**Position Overview**:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented **Bookkeeper **to join our finance team and support our group of companies. you will be responsible for managing the financial records and transactions of several entities within the organization. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The Bookkeeper will work closely with the accounting team and report directly to the Finance Manager or Controller.

**Responsibilities**:

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for multiple companies, including recording financial transactions, reconciling bank statements, and updating general ledger accounts.
- Process accounts payable invoices, verify and reconcile vendor accounts, prepare payments, and manage accounts receivable functions, including invoicing, collections, and customer account reconciliations.
- Prepare and process payroll for employees across multiple companies, ensuring accuracy in hours worked, deductions, and compliance with statutory regulations such as employment standards and tax requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of month-end and year-end financial statements for each company, including adjusting journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
- Generate and distribute financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to stakeholders within specified deadlines.
- Assist with the preparation of GST/HST filings, payroll tax remittances, and other regulatory filings as required, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local tax laws.
- Support the Finance Manager or Controller in monitoring budget variances, analyzing financial performance, and providing recommendations for cost-saving opportunities and process improvements.
- Implement and maintain internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data across all entities.
- Assist with internal and external audit processes by providing documentation, explanations, and support as required.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, operations, and administration, to ensure accurate financial reporting and alignment of financial goals with operational objectives.

**Qualifications**:

- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles, preferably with exposure to managing finances for multiple entities.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and ability to meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of Canadian tax laws and regulations is an asset.
- Professional certification such as CPA, CPB, or equivalent is preferred but not required.
