_**A Food Service Manager (FSM), with a recognized diploma and a member in good standing of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management**_, shall direct and manage all food production and food service areas and shall ensure provision of nutritional care in accordance with government legislation and in coordination with the facility’s Registered Dietitian.

Ongoing communication with residents, family members, and staff regarding department activities. **Remain current with trends in nutritional care and new food service products and methods. ** Is knowledgeable of and endeavors to promote the Resident Bill of Rights. **Organizes dietary in-services. ** Performs other duties as necessary and appropriate. **Input payroll into payroll system. ** Input invoices for payment into computer software systems. **Ensure security of the department during operational hours.**

**NUTRITIONAL CARE RESIDENT ASSESSMENT REQUIREMENTS**:
Ensure the FSM (Food Service Manager) meets with each new resident or his or her representative, within 72 hours of admission as prescribed by applicable laws and completes a dietary interview with the resident or his or her representative for purposes of identifying the resident’s likes, dislikes, and special needs only; complete the admission assessment in PCC (Point Click Care) or similar resident profile system. Written record or electronic documentation to dietitian of all admissions and any diet changes/food preferences. Maintain record/documentation between dietitian and food service manager. **Be a member of the interdisciplinary care team ** Attend all resident care conferences and care plan rounds. **The dietitian will be responsible for the dietary needs of all the client’s residents. The dietitian will delegate to the FSM the completion of the quarterly reviews on all residents at low and moderate nutritional risks. ** The FSM will be responsible for implementing the recommendations of the dietitian. **The FSM will be responsible for nutritional follow-up of all low and moderate nutritional risk residents ** The FSM will be responsible for referrals to the dietitian **Continued monitoring and ongoing documentation of low and moderate risk resident’s nutritional status at a minimum of quarterly ** Provides an annual menu with therapeutic and nutritional analysis to dietitian for approval.

RESPONSIBILITIES TO HEALTH & SAFETY**:Is a competent person as defined by the occupational Health & Safety Act. ** Is knowledgeable of the supervisor’s responsibilities and follow all health and safety policies and procedures. **Monitors adherence to safety policies and procedures of dietary staff and takes corrective action as necessary. Promotes safe work practices for self and others. ** Is alert to, remedies, or promptly reports all actual or potential hazardous situations to the Administrator of the facility, and / or Occupational Health and Safety Committee. **Ensures that all reported injuries / illnesses are treated promptly and documented according to policy and ensures transportation for treatment of critical injury is arranged. ** Ensures that dietary staff is knowledgeable about facility fire and disaster plan.

QUALIFICATIONS:
WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Walking and standing with some lifting and working in awkward positions required. **Some exposure to heat from the kitchen area. Exposure to noise, biochemical agents, and wet floors. ** Some stress related to time pressures, deadlines, and reliance on outside services for regular delivery of food items. **Occasional irregular and extended hours and the requirement to be on call.**

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Lifting alone, maximum 50 Lbs., (5-25 lbs. usual) as a major job function. **Lifting with assistance, maximum 160 lbs. (100-120 lbs. usual) as a major job function. ** Pushing / pulling, using wheeled equipment such as carts, trolleys with contents that weigh a maximum of 100 lbs., (20-25 usual) as a major job function. **Stretching / reaching on a regular frequency throughout the shift, as a major job function. ** Walking, with the possibility of some stairs walking, occasionally more than 3 hours maximum, (1-2 usual) as a major job function. **Bending / stooping on a regular frequency throughout the shift, as a major job function. ** Crouching / kneeling for short periods of time as a minor job function. **Carries and transports objects of assorted sizes, to a maximum of 25 lbs. (5-15 lbs. usual) as a major job function. ** Able to type for extended periods of time.
