Norseman Structures has been in the protection and shelter business for over 100 years, starting with the fabrication of outfitter and exploration tents in the 1920s. Today we deliver a wide variety of ShelterSolutions to customers in virtually every industry, in a variety of climates, anywhere in the world.

We are looking to add a **Structural Drafter** to our Drafting team in Saskatoon. This position is responsible for preparing engineering drawings for both the steel and fabric components of our ShelterSolutions. The **Structural Drafter** provides drafting and design services in support of building orders. The incumbent will have the opportunity to expand their design and drafting knowledge while working collaboratively with a results-driven multi-departmental team on a wide variety of steel-framed building projects.

**Responsibilities**
- Prepare engineered drawings for steel and fabric, create component lists, shop drawings, and other related documents in the Engineering Department from preliminary concepts, engineering sketches, specification sheets and other data.
- Be involved in manufacturing and procurement processes, evaluating feasibility, and providing recommendations to optimize costs and quality while seeking fiercely reliable solutions.
- Contribute to schedule management, providing status updates, assessing and reporting roadblocks to the supervisor promptly in order to meet deadlines.
- Establish priorities, plan and multi-task under pressure of tight timelines.
- Perform clash interference analysis related not only to structural design but also a wide variety of disciplines, engaging immediate supervisor, project managers and engineers as required in a timely manner.
- Attend meetings to discuss project needs, guiding stakeholders in order to obtain information required to ensure continuous workflow.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

- Design and Manufacturing Engineering Technology program or other equivalent CAD/CAM diploma
- Experience in construction and/or manufacturing is an asset
- Experience with SolidWorks, Advance steel and Excel are an asset
- Experience with Tekla and Navisworks are an asset
- Knowledge of 3D modeling and structural steel detailing are an asset
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD.
- Proficient in time management and problem-solving.
- Detail-oriented and inquisitive aptitude contributing to problem-solving and management process.
- Sense of urgency and organization, prioritizing and shifting focus as required while keeping record in project files.
- Works collaboratively with a multi-departmental team to provide the best solution for a project given their unique needs and constraints.
- Pro-active and self-directed, yet able to work as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate collaboratively with customers and team members.
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications and understand spatial geometry.
