Machinist Iii

**_Duties/Responsibilities_**

**_ Under general supervision:_**
- ** **Operates all manual, CNC, or EDM machines to perform completely and independently specific operations as outlined in the methods and process sheets
- Change, set and adjust precision tools as required
- Load, create, and delete programs in the computer
- Make adjustments of feeds and speeds on the assigned machine.
- Grind own cutting tools and drills (other than special purpose tools).
- Consistently maintain specific tolerances and accurately perform dimensions
- Check parts using specified gages or check parts using furnished fixtures to see that dimensions are being maintained.
- Perform routine maintenance checks, reporting improper machine function and/or check parts not being held to the proper dimensions
- Makes minor repairs
- Maintain a neat and orderly work area.
- Shares knowledge willingly with other employees
- Subject Matter Expert on several types of machines
- Follow all applicable safety rules and precautions.
- Other job-related duties as assigned.

**_ Minimum qualifications_***
- 4 years relevant experience
- Able to read, write, and speak in standard English
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
- Thorough knowledge of shop geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and blueprints.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before employees in the organization.
- Have comprehensive knowledge of the machinability of metals.
- Demonstrate a good mechanical aptitude.

**_ Preferred qualifications_**
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 7+ years relevant experience
