Woodshop Instructor

**Principal Tasks**
- Program development for year-round youth woodworking programming
- Woodworking program facilitation and youth mentorship
- Coordinate social enterprise activities, including product development, workshops and facility rentals
- Develop safety protocols and conduct safety training for all users of the woodworking studio
- Maintain professional standards and certifications required for operation of the woodworking studio
- Build partnerships with outside community groups, businesses and institutions to help bridge youth to further employment and educational opportunities
- Transportation of youth program participants in 15-passenger van as needed
- Support the delivery of other farm programming including horticultural activities and kitchen programs as needed
- Support fund development for the ongoing operations of the woodworking studio
- Deliver public programs
- Train and supervise woodworking volunteers

**Qualifications**
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills
- Must be passionate about mentoring/teaching youth from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
- Must be adaptable, understanding and patient
- Must have enthusiasm and motivation in program planning and curriculum development
- Must be willing to collaborate with other FortWhyte Alive staff to achieve overall goals of FortWhyte Farms’ programming and FWA mission
- Familiarity with the social enterprise model and ability to plan revenue-generating activities
- Experience with grant writing and reporting is an asset
- Class 4 driver’s license is an asset and will be required upon employment
