**Electrical Maintenance Technician (EMT) / Trainer**

Nasittuq provides Operation & Maintenance services for the North Warning System (NWS). The NWS is a joint Canada and United States early-warning radar system with 47 sites located in Northern Canada; a Control Centre and Support Centre located in North Bay, ON and a Contract Management Office located in Ottawa, ON.

Reporting to the NWSCC Communications & Electronics Supervisor, the Electronics Maintenance Technician (EMT) / Trainer is responsible for providing technical support and training on Communications & Electronics and Radar systems.
**Major Responsibilities**
- Assist in the maintenance of NWS systems, including but not limited to, data/voice communications, multiplexers, satellite/RF communications, AN/FPS-124 Radar, AN/FPS-117 Radar, router based IP networks, helicopter monitor and SCADA systems.
- Provides technical support to LRR Electronics Maintenance Technicians, NWSCC Crew Technicians and LCMM/Engineers
- Develop course training standards according to SOW requirements and updates in equipment/systems
- Determine course content according to objectives
- Prepare training material (presentations, worksheets etc.)
- Execute training sessions, webinars, workshops etc. in groups or individually
- Analyzes equipment failures to determine cause and recommends corrective action
- Assists in effecting design changes to improve equipment efficiency and/or reduce cost of operation
- Provides feedback to the Technical Services department on minor modifications, additional work projects and maintenance task reviews
- The NWSSC EMT/Trainer can also be deployed to NWS sites to assist Operations and Sustainment Engineering with system investigation, inspections, preventive and corrective maintenance.
- Keeps performance and maintenance records on equipment
- Documents and maintains facilities files as related to the work management system, work plans, field/incident reports, data analysis, etc.
- Responds to emergency situations (unexpected failures)
- Perform preventive maintenance on communications equipment at the SRD.
- Liaise with NWSCC Technicians and request authorization for system downtime, verify operational status of NWS equipment after downtime, enter data and ensure the accuracy of work order information.
- Perform the duties of the NWSCC Communications & Electronic or Radar Crew Technician.
**Secondary Duties**
- Assists in the installation of NWS communications and electronics systems, including but not limited to, data/voice communications, multiplexers, radar, satellite/RF communications, router based IP networks, weather detection equipment
- Performing preventive maintenance on communications equipment at the NWSCC and CSTB.
- Providing guidance and training to customer personnel in establishing operation, maintenance, and inspection procedures and techniques.
- Providing feedback on preventive maintenance programs.
- Performing the duties of a LRR Electronics Maintenance Technician.
- Assisting in the maintenance of the Site libraries.
- Conducting environmental, safety, security and quality checks and audits, general housekeeping in support of a healthy and safe workplace environment and taking proactive and corrective measures in these areas.
- Performs other duties as assigned which are transient in nature.
**Statement of Qualifications**
- Completion of postsecondary program in an electronics field or CF military equivalent.
- A minimum of five years of experience on the job training working with telecommunications/electronic systems.
- Previous experience developing and conducting technical training would be an asset.
**Knowledge of**:
- Strong knowledge of telecommunications, RF, satellite, radar and IP network systems, with ability to read and interpret related drawings and manuals.
- Proficiency in the use of commercial test equipment and tools used in troubleshooting and repair of electronic circuits.
**Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience**:
- Proven communication, analytical, organizational, and decision making skills
- Ability to work efficiently and independently
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Maximo.
- Customer service and detail oriented.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Standard First Aid trained with CPR Level A (with valid certificate).
- Hold a valid class ‘G’ driver’s license, or provincial/territorial equivalent.
- **Must already hold a Level II (Secret) Clearance or be eligible to obtain one. Approval of security clearance by the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate is a condition of employment.**:
- Hold a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL) would be considered an asset.
