**English as an Additional Language (EAL) Instructors (multiple positions)**

ISANS is seeking full-time and part-time **EAL Instructors** to teach adult newcomers the language they need to integrate into the community and the labour market. Reporting to the Supervisor and the Manager, Language Services, the EAL Instructors will be responsible for:
**Duties and responsibilities**:

- Developing and delivering settlement language training (in-person, online or blended) to adult immigrants using a task-based teaching approach
- Balancing planning, teaching and administrative duties in a professional manner
- Conducting ongoing needs and language assessments using Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB)
- Preparing and designing appropriate and relevant materials (online and text-based) for teaching purposes
- Keeping up-to-date records of lesson plans and teaching activities
- Liaising with other instructors to offer and gain support
- Documenting clients’ learning progress, attendance and other relevant information as required
- Conducting client surveys and program evaluations as required
- Keeping up-to-date on EAL and settlement issues

**General responsibilities**:

- Providing information as required for internal/external reports and proposals
- Reviewing and adhering to ISANS workplace health and safety policies
- Recording all relevant client information on databases in a consistent and timely manner as appropriate to the position
- Attending regular staff meetings and team meetings
- Attending training and development opportunities as appropriate
- Attending and providing support at ISANS events
- Performing other duties as required

**Education and Experience**
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience will be accepted
- Recognized TESL qualification
- 2 years’ experience in a similar position teach adults
- Experience working in a cross-cultural environment; deliver direct service to immigrants preferred
- Experience working with CLB and Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA)
- Experience in online teaching
- Experience in EAL curriculum development an asset

**Knowledge**:

- Understanding and knowledge of adult education principles
- Understanding of EAL literacy
- Understanding of task-based and outcomes-based teaching
- Understanding of online development and teaching

**Current openings**:

- **Multiple LINC (EAL) instructors** - 17.5 or 35 hours (mornings, afternoons and or evenings), in-person and blended
- **1 Seniors’ Class instructor** - 17.5 hours (afternoons), in-person
- **1 Language Learning Centre instructor** - 35 hours (afternoons and evenings)
- **1 Outreach instructor** - 35 hours (daytime), in-person and online, car required
- **1 English in the Workplace instructor** - 35 hours (daytime), in-person and online, car required

**Terms of Employment**
- Fixed-term contracts, renewable pending funding confirmation and short-term contracts of a minimum of 4 months also available
- Some positions at full-time hours (35 hours per week) and some positions at part-time hours (17.5 hours per week). Evening availability required.
- During the COVID-19 pandemic, your work location may be at ISANS’ office or at home. Work location will be determined by operational requirements, public health recommendations, and government requirements.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 7-18 per week

**Salary**: $24.00-$28.00 per hour
