As the Grain Originator, you will complement the high-volume contracts of the Merchandising department by developing and maintaining relationships with key grain producers and dealers. You will gain market information for producers and source grain to satisfy P&H’s originations goals and merchandising strategies.

**Your day to day activities will include**:

- Purchase grain from a defined base of customers within a territory
- Maintain and analyze a database of current and potential customer profiles to build and manage a pipeline of origination opportunities in accordance with merchandising team guidelines
- Work closely with the logistics team to support timely deliveries
- Monitor and communicate shipping information, quality issues, grade differences and rejected shipments
- Monitor and administer purchase contracts, following through the process to accurate payments to the customer upon delivery
- Post-secondary in Ag related program or minimum two years’ experience in Ag retail business;
- P.Ag or CCA certification (or the ability to obtain) is an asset;
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work effectively under defined time constraints with peak workloads
- Excellent negotiating and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills via phone or in person, with the ability to relay and obtain market data relevant to customers
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft suite
- Ability to identify business opportunities and target markets
