**The Opportunity**:
The Implementation Scientist (IS), will be fully embedded in IWK Health. The acquisition of this critical skillset will enable IWK Health to change our evaluation culture from an optional extra to part of core service delivery.

Being embedded in programs and services at IWK Health increases the potential for co-designed, relevant research and evaluation, applied directly to the context in which solutions will be adopted, to facilitate successful implementation and improve health and care for service users. This model will allow researchers, health care staff/physicians, patients/families, and community members to understand and value each other’s roles, knowledge, and approaches and develop their complementary skills.

Implementation Science is a multidisciplinary field that strives to improve population health by studying different methods and strategies to promote the uptake of interventions into practice and policy. The discipline uses both qualitative and quantitative methodologies to identify the best ways to embed research that is equitable and sustainable. Important features of this work include mixed methods research that is grounded in theory, engagement of system partners, and contributions to an integrated knowledge translation process for the larger health system.

It is expected that this individual would be eligible for an adjunct appointment with the Faculty of Graduate Studies, Faculty of Medicine, and/or Faculty of Health, Dalhousie University.

**Hours of Work**:
Monday to Friday; 45 hours bi-weekly

**Your Qualifications**:

- PhD in health-related field.
- Post-doctoral record (or equivalent) of research productivity.
- Minimum five (5) years’ experience in the science and practice of Implementation Science in health care.
- Experience in conducting collaborative implementation research with various interested parties including policy makers, researchers, healthcare administrators, clinicians, and patients/families.
- Experience in building capacity in the science and practice of implementation including assessing what works, for whom and under what circumstances, and how interventions can be adapted/implemented and scaled up in ways that are effective, safe, accessible, equitable.
- Experience in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research designs including pragmatic trials, randomized controlled trials, interrupted time series, and process evaluations.
- Experience in conducting and reporting knowledge synthesis - track record of research grants and publications relevant to implementation science.
- Experience in collaborating with and advising faculty/students.
- Experience with managing an interdisciplinary team.
- Strong leadership, mentor and team building skills.
- Excellent communication skills to positively influence change and support the change management process
