**Role Responsibilities**:
Are you looking for an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and families? If so, the Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Trade has an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Manager, Child Care Policy.

This position provides leadership to a team of policy experts in the Child Care Program Policy team. It plays a lead role in strategic analysis of policy and program development at the provincial level for childcare initiatives within the Ministry.

This includes developing strategic, operational and program level policies that have direct impacts on the success of Alberta's Child Care framework and the province’s ability to meet commitments under the Canada-Alberta Early Learning and Child Care Agreement.

This position provides support for branch responses to unanticipated priorities and represents the branch on a variety of child care issues to other GoA departments and external stakeholders.

This position has broad impact on the Ministry and the childcare sector, as their input shapes how decision points will be placed in front of Minister and Cabinet.

Main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- **Program Area Support**: Develop strong trusting relationships with management and staff in other branches/units by providing policy interpretation, direction and support on key files.
- **Grant and Contract Development and Administration**:Oversee the development and administration of grants and contracts.
- **Cross-Ministry and Intergovernmental**:Represent the Branch on work with other Ministries, the Federal Government and Municipalities to support Alberta's Child Care Framework.
- ** Team Management/Leadership**:Manage and delegate work amongst direct reports in a manner that promotes balanced work loads, timely delivery of products, positive relations, and respectful work environments.

**Qualifications**:
University graduation in Public Administration, Social Sciences, Human Services, Business or a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

The position requires the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
