**Qualifications**:

- Masters Degree or equivalent in French Languages, French Methodology completed or in progress
- BED with specialization in Elementary Education
- Knowledge of French First and second language and immersion issues
- Deep knowledge of French curriculum outcomes
- Knowledge of French immersion sustainability issues within a declining enrolment educational environment
- Knowledge of best assessment and instructional practice
- Certified to provide OPI testing to measure French proficiency

**Experience**:

- Experience implementing FSL approaches
- Experience with French Second Language special projects
- More than two years experience in an Administrative position would be an asset
- Strong long-term approach to French planning
- Proven, well developed positive interpersonal skills
- Experience in Board priority areas of Math and English literacy
- Five or more years teaching and administrative experience
- Experience working with specialized itinerant regional staff

**Task Dimensions**:

- Provide on-going support to French Second Language Teachers. For example:

- Make regular classroom visitations to monitor the delivery of programs.
- Organize individual and/or small group professional development opportunities.
- Provide French moniteur/monitrice support in various classrooms.
- Facilitate and assist teachers with classroom instructional and assessment practices.
- Work with other members of the Regions Education Team to ensure effective and integrated curriculum implementation.
- Developing, implementing and evaluating the effectiveness from a student learning perspective of policies and procedures related to programs and curriculum support.
- Coordinating provincial curriculum implementation, PD, evaluation, and maintenance, and oversee regional leadership implementation teams. This includes resource and release time requirements, determined in conjunction with principals and applicable consultants.
- Working closely with the Assessment Coordinator, assisting in the development and implementation of diagnostic tools for classroom assessment and for school-based student evaluation, including standard provincial report cards.
- Coordinating schedules of itinerant programs teachers, if applicable, working with other Coordinators regarding RT’s and TA’s.
- Undertaking direct curriculum consultant responsibilities, as required.
- Performs OPI testing.
- Identifies where links are needed to other area to ensure effective achievement of overall goals. For example:

- Collaborating and supporting the Regions Education Team in the area of Programs and Student Services including but not limited to school improvement plans, assessment, data interpretation, and program planning teams.
- Collaborating with the Director Human Resources respecting staff allocation for programs.
- Collaborating with the Coordinator of Student Services and attending meetings to provide advice and support as requested.
- Advising Operations personnel on facility construction and renovation to meet program needs.
- Performs required supervisory and administrative duties and financial management of budgets. For example:

- Assist Department of Education staff with Special Project Evaluations.
- Develops positive public relations and communication for FSL programs. For example:

- Communicate regularly with South Shore Regional Centre for Education Communications Manager to provide coverage of FSL events and programs.
- Coordinate and assist schools with enhanced French program information and registration meetings.
- Provide assistance to school administrators. For example:

- Monitor the delivery of individual school FSL programs.
- Assist with the recruitment and proficiency testing of FSL teachers and substitutes.
- Monitor the SSRCE FSL Program Policy.
- Provide support to school administrators when implementing of new programs (i.e. Immersion, Intensive French).
- Provide leadership and support to the Collaborative Learning Teams
- Network with various local, provincial, and national organizations in order to provide teachers and students with current opportunities and research.
