Delta, Canada Reach Child and Youth Development Society Full time

The REACH Respite Program has numerous openings for experienced respite caregivers to provide **hourly and in some cases overnight care. Most** of the positions are in the **caregiver’s own home, **some are in the **community **and one is in the **family home**. These are contracted positions, perfect for students or those seeking casual/part-time work with flexible hours.

**Specifically seeking**:
**Awake Overnight in the Family's home (South Surrey)**
- Caregiver with medical background required for awake overnight in the family home from 12:00pm to 6:00pm for child who requires medication throughout the night. 1 to 2 nights per week (nights flexible)

**Overnight in Caregiver’s home for Tsawwassen family**
- Caregiver, preferably with a musical background, required to provide overnight respite in their own home for a guitar playing pre-teen male who loves music, nature, thrift shopping and crafts.

**Overnight in Caregiver’s home for Surrey family**
- Kind and caring caregiver sought to provide overnight care in their own home to a very gentle and loving 16 year old boy who requires assistance in all areas of personal care.

**Hourly Caregivers needed in the Ladner / Tsawwassen area**
- Caregivers required for 7 children / youth ranging in age from 6 to 17 years of age, typically in the caregiver’s home or in the community. Interests of these children/youth vary and include drawing, reading, swimming, crafts, soccer, cooking/baking, games, animals and shopping. Some of these children/youth are very sociable and would do well in a setting with a caregiver who has children, while others can have challenging behaviors at times and require more individualized care.
- Have a minimum of 1 year and for some positions, 3 years **experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities**, as well as a minimum post-secondary certificate in human services
- have a **passion** for working with the special needs community and in some cases, have 1 year+ working with individuals who have **challenging behaviors** or a combination of training and experience.
- have experience providing **positive behaviour support**:

- (for some positions) be willing to provide care in their own (the caregiver's) home
- be able to work **independently **and follow a child/youth’s care plan in providing support
- (for some positions) be comfortable with providing personal care support as required
- (for some positions) have access to a **vehicle** and a clean driving record
- be required to complete a screening process

**As a REACH respite caregiver, you’ll**:

- give families temporary relief from the challenges of caring for a child with a developmental disability
- provide a child or youth with the opportunity to participate in activities and learn new things
- have a flexible schedule
- learn new skills from trainings offered

REACH Child and Youth Development Society has been providing services to children and their families since 1959. **Salary**: $22.00-$25.00 per hour
