At SMS Equipment, our **Supervisor, Mechanical** is responsible for the safe, efficient and economical operation of the Branch shop facilities. This **Supervisor, Mechanical** is responsible for assisting trades people in repair procedures and techniques, planning and executing production based on customer demand, and improving shop efficiencies and quality. This role is located in **Acheson, AB**.

The shift rotation for this position is **5x2.**

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:

- **Oversees shop facilities and service operations**. Ensure that operational requirements are met by supervising, coordinating and scheduling the activities of trades people who repair and maintain mining equipment. Assure a quality product by conducting in-process inspections and evaluating the finished product. Prepare and process warranty claim repair orders. Coordinate work through other functions such as parts and warranty claims.
- **Supervisory responsibilities. **Ensure all trades people are exercising safe procedures and that trade practices and regulations are followed. Maintain staff by training; ensuring employees are trained in their assigned tasks and arrange and track training. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by developing and enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations, utilizing 5S and Lean fundamentals. Full supervisory responsibility for a shop of approximately 25 trades people including apprentices and labourers.
- **Customer service. **Serve customers by providing service information and by resolving service problems. Resolve service problems by asking questions and clarifying the customer’s concerns. Determining the cause of the problem, explaining the best solution and making the correction or adjustment. Ensure resolution has been achieved by follow up. Prepare condition reports and quotations as required.

**Qualifications**:

- Position required a thorough knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining equipment.
- Must be a strong leader with the ability to effectively lead.
- Strong ability to plan, develop, coordinate, and direct detailed phases of mechanical functions including the performance of the same.
- Ability to oversee and coordinate a large shop operation.
- Strong knowledge of OH&S acts and regulations and equipment inspection requirements; and Supervisor’s Certificate and First Aid would be an asset.
