As the Cleaner, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards both inside and outside of the building. Your duties will include performing cleaning tasks, disinfecting surfaces, disposing of waste, and ensuring a safe and hygienic environment for occupants while adhering to our core values of being participant-centric, inclusive, collaborative, agile and accountable.

**Primary Duties**

**Cleaning Tasks**:

- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors.
- Dust and polish furniture, fixtures, and surfaces.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors.
- Wash windows, walls, and ceilings as needed.
- Empty trash bins and replace liners.
- Clean and disinfect kitchen areas, including countertops, appliances, and sinks.
- Ability to solve issues affecting the maintenance of clean facilities.

**Surface Disinfection**:

- Use appropriate cleaning agents and disinfectants to sanitize surfaces and high-touch areas, such as doorknobs, light switches, and handrails.
- Follow established protocols for infection control and prevention, especially during outbreaks of contagious illnesses.

**Waste Management**:

- Collect and dispose of trash, recyclables, and other waste materials in designated receptacles.
- Sort and separate recyclable materials according to recycling guidelines.

**Equipment Maintenance**:

- Clean and maintain cleaning equipment, tools, and supplies.
- Report any malfunctioning equipment or safety hazards to the supervisor.
- Follow proper procedures for storing and handling cleaning chemicals.

**Safety and Hygiene**:

- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, such as gloves, goggles, or masks.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment to minimize hazards and promote hygiene.
- Report any maintenance issues, damage, or safety concerns promptly.
- Knowledge of health and safety standards and rules.

**Education**

High School Diploma

**Qualifications**

1. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.

2. Experience in an administrative setting with a comfort level in a social services sector.

3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

4. Crisis management and problem-solving skills.

5. Knowledge of issues such as poverty, homelessness, addictions, and mental illness an asset.

6. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.

7. Flexible work hours

8. Class “G” driver’s license or better and bilingualism considered an asset.

**Working conditions**

Work in the spirit of teamwork with all staff contributing to the overall mission of Centre 507.

High degree of physical activity involving varies activities: walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, bending, lifting, etc. Staff require the ability to lift to 50 lbs, push up to 100 lbs.

Staff must have the ability to maintain alertness for entire shift.

Pay: $41,000.00 per year
