Reporting to the Quality & HSE Manager, the Quality & Health, Safety and Environment Specialist position serves as a key component in enabling the operations team to embrace quality and safety into every step of the process as well as encouraging this to be a way of life philosophy and assuring customer satisfaction and industry safety standards.

This position plays a vital role in the Blackstone Group of companies; Quality & HSE Specialist will successfully be engaged in all aspects of our businesses in Canada and supporting the U.S. regions. The primary focus is the successful execution of repairs; quality, safety, and manufacturing performance targets are met while maintaining a healthy culture.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Validates quality and HSE processes by establishing control specifications, measuring production, documenting evidence, determining operational performance qualification, developing and updating quality assurance procedures
- Develops policies and procedures and work practices specific to the facility to ensure quality products and services are supplied
- Effectively interacts with Production, Sales, and Engineering teams to ensure customer satisfaction and HSE Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and other relevant data
- Serve as a resource for employees regarding health and safety concerns, providing guidance and support as needed.
- Drive & sustain a culture that values pro-active and collaborative efforts with key stakeholders
- Provide strategic direction and develop, implement and monitor HSE goals, objectives, priorities and procedures relating to the business units
- Maintains and improves product quality by participating in product, service, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints
- Manages provincial WCB account, communication, incident reporting and investigations
- Coordinates the planning & execution of safety & quality training for staff & consultants
- Maintain operational data and prepare quality repots, safety data & statistics
- Provide HSE training to staff and develops internal training materials
- Supports the development of quality plans for both local and remote jobs
- Implements measures to improve inspection methods, performance, product quality, product efficiency
- Stay informed about changes in health and safety regulations and industry best practices, and ensure that policies and procedures are updated accordingly.

**Qualifications**
- Health & Safety Administrator or other designation an asset
- Minimum 5 years of experience in medium or heavy industry or construction
- Familiar with regional OSH/OSHA codes and regulations and ability to implement additional controls when required
- Proven ability to work autonomously and to handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
- Excellent writing skills, well-developed interpersonal ability, and a commitment to confidentiality
- Knowledge of health, safety and environment & quality management systems
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal, administrative and leadership skills are required.
- Motivated, self-starter who works well unsupervised and within a team environment.
- An effective communicator with the ability to develop positive working relationships across a multitude of business units.
