**Department Overview**
- The Treasury and Balance Sheet Management (TBSM) department of TD Bank is responsible for overseeing the management of the Bank’s: non-trading market risk, consolidated liquidity risk and consolidated capital position.
- For Market Risk, the scope of non-trading activity covers the measurement and management of interest rate, equity and foreign exchange risks for TD's banking book portfolios. These banking book portfolios are primarily the Canadian and U.S. personal and commercial business segments.
- The Asset Liability Management (ALM) team within TBSM focuses on the management of these market risks and is responsible for: designing and monitoring effective hedging strategies, developing ALM frameworks, and owning hedging related assumptions.
- The Manager, Hedge Accounting Strategy reports directly to the Senior Manager. This role is responsible for monitoring and optimization of existing hedge accounting strategies and for supporting the timely and effective implementation of new hedge accounting and FX risk management strategies within TD Bank’s Treasury department.

- In keeping with these requirements, the incumbent will need to foster strong relationships with senior members of various areas across the bank. These relationships will be key to developing understanding, resolving issues and implementing change.
- Accountabilities:
- Responsibility for offering strategic hedge accounting solutions for the management on non-trading market risk.
- Become a department expert on current and developing hedge accounting guidance.
- Assist in managing end-to-end ownership of large-scale projects to enhance measurement of non-trading market risk and improve foreign exchange risk/hedge accounting practices in the Bank.
- Lead in designing strategies, lead deep dives, modeling to identify necessary enhancements or areas of improvements, and manage implementation efforts.
- Work closely with TBSM's partners to promote understanding, implement hedge accounting and FX Risk management strategies, ensure all stakeholder's input is addressed and are reflected in measurement processes during the implementation.
- Assess impact and suggest mitigation strategies arising from proposed regulatory changes, accounting guidance, corporate development activities, and/or new strategic initiatives.
- Document and update frameworks and strategy documentation for all new and existing strategies.
- Assist the Senior Manager in communicating key proposals, findings and analysis to the senior management.
- Foster strong relationship with all stakeholders related to market risk management (TAG, Front Office, MRMA, Market Risk Control, Capital Market Risk Management, Finance, Chief Accountants, Tax, Internal and External Auditors).

**Job Requirements**
**This position requires a highly results-focused individual who has**:
- CPA designation (CPA, CA preferred) with a minimum of 5 years of experience in areas of Treasury and/or risk.
- Valued designations: CFA, FRM (considered an asset)
**In-depth knowledge of**:
- Strong accounting background with relevant technical experience
- Strong understanding of Financial Instruments and Hedge Accounting ((IAS/IFRS/USGAAP)
- Experience in the financial services industry is preferred
- Principles of interest rate risk management including asset and liability management (e.g., duration, convexity, key rate immunization)
- Fixed income and interest rate derivative products, including valuation techniques
- Key features and characteristics of retail banking products
**Experience with**:
- Relating complex concepts and results in terms understandable by audiences with diverse backgrounds & seniority levels
- Producing and analyzing management reporting and risk measurement results
**Competencies and Personal Qualities**:
