**Overall Responsibilities**:
Laboratory Technician is responsible for performing testing on samples for purposes such as quantitative analysis, quality control, and process control. He/ she is also responsible for general maintenance of laboratory equipment and the physical maintenance of the laboratory.

**Specific Responsibilities**:

- Receiving, logging in, and generating work orders for all samples received in the laboratory.
- Performing the required analysis using GC, HPLC, LCMS, ICPMS, etc..
- Documenting each test result and maintaining neat, complete, and accurate records. Must prepare corresponding quality control charts.
- Performing quality assurance/ quality control testing. Must calibrate and verify each instrument as needed and maintain in clean working condition.
- Maintaining and cleaning laboratory instruments, equipment, and supplies.
- Keeping laboratory clean and orderly.
- Conduct required testing and lab activities under current Good Laboratory practices (GLP) including data interpretation, documentation and reporting of results, calibrations, verification etc.
- Initiate lab investigations and deviations as per internal SOPs under the Laboratory Director or designate.
- Sample preparation in accordance to the respective SOPs / reference methods.
- Plans assigned work efficiently, executes it with mínimal oversight while ensuring target timelines are met.
- Preparation of standards and reagents.
- Recording and analyzing data.
- Clean and maintain workplace and equipment as per GLP requirements.
- Writing reports, reviews and summaries.
- Ordering and maintaining stock and resources.
- Interpretation of analysis data.
- Operation and verification of equipment.
- Routine analytical testing.
- Use of quality controls during analysis respecting GxP regulations.
- Participate in updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and general work instructions.
- Record related to laboratory activities performed.
- Report to laboratory Manager about deviation/non-conforming work, react to customer complaint
- Investigate non-conforming work / deviation / customer complaints for root cause with Laboratory Manager.
- Work in compliance with established company policies of the Health and Safety Act.
- Must use personal protective equipment and/or clothing to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for self and others.
- Maintain an inventory of consumables and order supplies as required.
- Perform other related duties as required.

**Minimum Position Requirements**:

- Position requires a High School Diploma (some College credits preferable). Must possess basic computer, mathematics and science skills. Must also demonstrate ability to grasp new procedures quickly and be capable of working independently upon completion of training.
- Must demonstrate evidence to be able to work unsupervised and be goal oriented.
- Good inter-personal skills and the ability to communicate with employees and outside consultants, executive management, and colleagues.
- Thorough understanding of safety and training issues.
- This Position is based in Arnolds Cove, Newfoundland

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
