Room Checker

Microtel Inn & Suites Portage la Prairie, MB

The Room Checker will be responsible for participating in the activities of the housekeeping department in a manner that will ensure the hotel guests are provided with clean, attractive, well-maintained rooms and common areas to ensure guest comfort and enjoyment, as well as 100% guest satisfaction guarantees, quality assurance standards, guest security and safety.

This is a part-time position which requires availability to work early mornings, late evenings and/or weekends.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Housekeeping

Ensure corridors and staff areas are cleaned to standards
Ensure the timely and accurate completion of housekeeping forms/reports, following procedures required by hotel policy
Clean rooms and common areas or work in laundry when necessary
Respond to and anticipate guest needs with any comments or complaints being action following procedures laid down by hotel and company policy
Inspect all rooms for cleanliness and maintenance issues daily
Report maintenance issues by completing maintenance slips and follow up in maintenance work in rooms to ensure that work is completed
Ensure the employee break room is comfortable and clean
Assist in other areas of the Housekeeping Department

Laundry

Ensure maximum efficiency/economy of washing machines and dryers
Assist in collection of used linen from the floors and sort to wash type
Fold and stack linen
Change chemical dispensers
Launder blankets, bedspreads and other items
Handle soiled linen in accordance with health and safety requirements
Assist in inventory control
Notify any repairs/alternations required to linen, terry, bedding and drapes
Ensure the security of stock and the working area

Breakfast

Meet and greet guests
Ensure the breakfast area is free of debris, and all equipment is in working order
Maintain the satisfaction of all guests
Enforce safety and security procedures of the hotel by key control, reporting suspicious activity or persons, and locking all storage areas
Write maintenance notices for all equipment in need of attention, repair or replacement
Display all food items in accordance to brand standards and in a manner that will ensure guest satisfaction
Promote guest loyalty through actions, speech and mannerisms
Provide or locates the answer to all guest inquiries
Follow all vendor and supplier recommendations, and local codes, concerning food safety and handling
Present her or himself in a professional manner
Order of all supplies necessary for the efficient running of the breakfast bar
Other duties as required

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
Experience Required

1-2 years of experience in a customer service-oriented role
Previous Host/Hostess experience an asset

Ability to demonstrate being a team player
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
A fun, positive attitude with a sense of humour

Desired Education

A High School Diploma or GED required

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:
May be required to work early morning and weekend shifts
