**University Health Network (UHN) **is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of** Inter-professional Educator **in our** Professional Practice Department.**

**Toronto Rehab** is a leader in adult rehabilitation and complex continuing care. It brings together innovative patient care, groundbreaking research and diverse education to help people overcome or recover from disabling injury, illness or age-related conditions. **E. W. Bickle Complex Continuing Care Centre** is one of five Toronto Rehab sites.
A member of the Professional Practice Team, the **Inter-professional Educator** is a clinical expert with clinical care, quality improvement, and academic leadership responsibilities. The role oversees clinical and professional practice initiatives with and for the allied health professional group, while developing and supporting professional expertise in patient care, education and research. The role accomplishes these aims by: providing leadership, consultation, and acting as a resource for allied health staff; mentoring and coaching; supporting managers in addressing staff performance and workload issues; ensuring quality staff and student educational programs; and supporting research activities.
**The** Inter-professional Educator,** in consultation with operational and practice leaders, will work closely with site-specific clinical teams to: support alignment with professional regulatory standards; ensure integration of best practices at the point-of-care; facilitate professional involvement in quality of care improvement, education and research initiatives; support alignment of professional goals with the strategic directions of Toronto Rehab and UHN; maintain competence in, and promote, their own profession; support and liaise with Discipline Heads and Allied Health roles across UHN and with external partners; and act as a resource to programs and the organization in addressing clinical practice matters through education.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Participates in interviews, hiring processes, orientation and training of new allied health staff, as appropriate.
- Consults with respect to adequate staff coverage to meet workload needs.
- Communicates and disseminates relevant practice-based information to staff, through meetings, in-services, memoranda and/ or appropriate communication media.
- Ensures that the patient care activities of staff are consistent with the philosophy, goals, Standards of Care and Standards of Practice of UHN, Allied Health and the practice area and profession.
- Facilitates staff to incorporate profession specific practice-based indicators and participate in interprofessional quality initiatives.
- Leads and contributes to developing, reviewing and implementing interprofessional practice initiatives.
- Builds, fosters and maintains strong communication linkages with staff, to ensure the integration, alignment and support for professional practice activities within their profession and practice areas.
- Leads and contributes to quality improvement and workload measurement activities; develops and implements systems to support these functions, in cooperation with appropriate staff; ensures staff and resources are utilized effectively.
- Leads and contributes to program development initiatives to meet client and program needs.
- Leads and contributes to the development of profession-specific practice areas goals and objectives related to patient-focused care, education, and research, aligning with Allied Health and UHN goals.
