**General Information**
**Job Title: Outreach and Engagement Worker**
Department: Outreach & Engagement
Reports to: Director of Harm Reduction
Effective Date: as soon as possible to March 31, 2025 with possibility of extension
**Job Summary**
Community-based outreach includes visiting (or working in) homeless encampments, shelters, soup kitchens, medical centers and hospitals, and various types of residential or housing facilities to provide education and engage high-risk populations in treatment and support. Street Outreach includes distributing harm reduction materials in the parks and other places the target population is known to congregate or frequent to provide educational and resource information and/or engage potential clients in the program
**Key Responsibilities**
- Support people in the community with the uptake of Harm Reduction practices
- Connect people with traditional Indigenous medicines and ceremonies.
- Provide Harm Reduction materials.
- Provide testing and automatic referrals to treatment.
- Provide referrals to internal programs and external partner organizations.
- Provide transportation to street-involved people to attend other services.
- Connect with housing and income support programs.
- Refer to other harm reduction or treatment services as identified by the client.
- Provide information on HIV/HCV/STIs and Harm Reduction
- Provide support and guidance to Peer Outreach Workers
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Upon training, provide phlebotomy services.
**Education & Training**
- Post-secondary education in Human Services or a minimum of two years of relevant experience
- At least two years of experience with the specific population serviced by our agency
- Previous experience working with Indigenous peoples and community, and a good understanding of Indigenous history, cultures and knowing, being and doing.
- Must have Glass 'G" Driver’s License and clean drivers abstract
- Willingness to do phlebotomy training
**Experience**
The outreach worker must have a thorough understanding of the client population and the goals of the program (e.g., harm reduction, HIV, HCV, STIs and addiction). The outreach worker should have experience working with diverse populations and responding to cultural and social issues while maintaining client respect and dignity.

- Maintaining Confidentiality
- Data entry into the orgs EMR
**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 21 months
Pay: $25.62 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
