YARD ASSOCIATE

**LOCATION**:Brighton

**STATUS**: Full-time, 42.5 hours per week

**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
The Yard Associate is responsible for organizing and cleaning the yard, helping prepare materials for orders, using a variety of equipment and tools, moving materials, and finished product within our yard and shop.

**DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- General housekeeping and maintaining cleanliness throughout the yard, work vehicles, etc.
- Pull and prepare products for shipment ensuring the exact number and types of product is loaded.

Preparing materials includes lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials weighting up to 50 lb.
- Load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials using various types of forklifts or other power equipment.
- Transporting materials to different locations within the facility.
- Securing loads to machine before transportation.
- Verify load accuracy; check the load count, stability, and product damage, report variances as necessary.
- Keep appropriate records and reports for inventory accuracy.
- Assist in physical inventories.
- Unload raw materials from deliveries, as required.
- Complete daily inspection of equipment.
- Ensure the equipment is always clean and safe.
- Ensure work and storage areas are always clean and safe.
- Follow procedures and maintain standards according to company policy.
- Attend company meetings, training sessions, etc. as required.
- Work on additional duties, special projects and assignments as assigned by the Shop Supervisor and/or General Manager.
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with provincial and federal safety legislation, as well as use of good common sense. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to management to have the situation corrected.

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**:

- Previous truss manufacturing, yard, warehousing, or similar experience an asset.
- Valid Ontario ‘G’ license is required, with a clean driver's abstract.
- Forklift certification is an asset.
- Punctual, dedicated, hardworking and very detail oriented.
- Shift flexibility and willingness to work overtime depending on season, workload, etc.
- Competency with building tools and materials.
- Excellent decision-making ability and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work co-operatively in a team atmosphere.
- Willingness to learn and continually develop professional skills and knowledge base.
- Good communication skills, multi-tasking skills and can meet deadlines.
- Comfortable working in all weather conditions.

**WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Reports directly to the Shop Supervisor and/or General Manager.
- Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking.
- Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
- Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
- Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, noise, vibrations, fumes, and gases.

**Salary**: $17.00-$18.00 per hour
