McMaster University operates the McMaster Nuclear Reactor (MNR) as part of its educational and research programs. Commercial work is carried out to support these programs.

Responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Isotope Production activities, staff and resources to meet customer orders and demand. Responsible for the safe and efficient production and shipping of radioactive isotopes and radioisotope products. Follows standardized procedures to produce, recover, package, and ship products while maintaining safe practices in a potentially hazardous environment.

Job Duties:

- Review, plan, approve and schedule new customer orders. Assess available resources in order to determine the viability of new customer orders.
- Works with Operations staff to plan and coordinate irradiations.
- Assemble and deliver irradiation and shipping packages to reactor operations staff.
- Fill out shipping and dangerous goods documentation and forms.
- Maintain knowledge and certification in the transportation of dangerous goods.
- Track, document, and resolve shipping related issues and outcomes.
- Record, resolve, and report production issues and non-conformances.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of Isotope Production supplies, including sensitive supplies requiring a QMS controlled environment.
- Collect, evaluate, and analyze shipping data.
- Ensure calibration of required instrumentation is completed for compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) or other standards.
- Provide estimates of time related to shipping
- Write a variety of documents, including, but not limited to, general correspondence, standard operating procedures, etc
- Provides orientation and shows procedures to others.
- Has ongoing lead hand responsibility for scheduling, quality of work, etc. for continuing employees.

Qualifications:

- Bachelors Degree in Science or related field of study.
- Requires 3 years of relevant experience.
- Required to complete and maintain Iodine Technician and/or Quirem Technician qualification upon hire.
