Buyer position at Boshart Industries is responsible for the timely placement of purchase orders ensuring on time delivery to meet customer requirements. Build and maintain strong business relationships with suppliers, negotiating best possible costs while maintaining a high level of commitment to quality and delivery.
**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Understand and utilize company ERP system
- Create and issue purchase orders on a timely basis.
- Review and approve PO invoices confirming cost, quantity, and delivery.
- Manage open purchase orders to ensure on time delivery.
- Monitor daily reports to identify and prevent potential stock outs.
- Complete purchase order requisitions and special-order item requests in a timely manner.
- Utilize available tools to manage and validate supplier prices.
- Maintain purchasing related information to retain data integrity.
- Collaborate with QA on any quality related issues.
- Identify surplus/excess items and take action to reduce impact on inventory.
- Identify and manage supplier KPI’s and escalate issues when required.
- Develop strategies with suppliers to improve inventory turns and reduce total costs.
- Utilize available data/information to mitigate potential supply chain risks.
- Contribute actively in the continuous improvement of the procurement functions.
- Work cross-functionally within the organization.
**ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Continually increase product and industry knowledge to improve buying decisions.
- Understand seasonal demand trends as they relate to purchasing.
- Available as required to support other team members.
- To perform other functions as assigned.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**:
- College - 2 years or equivalent in a related discipline
- 3 + years of procurement experience or related job experience.
**TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE**:
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- SCMP, CSCP or equivalent designation an asset but not required.

- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a busy environment with mínimal supervision.

**SHIFT**: Office Hours
- Monday to Friday - 8:00am - 5:00pm
