**Overview**:
Reporting to the Supervisor, IT Customer Service, the Audio/Visual Technical Specialist is responsible for supporting the planning, configuration and maintenance of audio-visual systems and the delivery of related services for the City.
The position is responsible for the support and delivery of audio visual services for city meetings; performs maintenance, administration and configuration for audio visual system software and equipment; maintains liaison with vendors, user groups, consultants and staff in the coordination of information and delivery of problem resolution services; oversees contractors engaged in the installation and set-up of audio visual systems; provides comprehensive audio visual support for city events; and supports the evaluation and development of audio visual services and technology.
**Examples of key responsibilities include, but are not limited to**:
- Responsible for the support and delivery of audio visual services for city meetings; ensures that system software and equipment is set-up as directed and functioning prior to meetings; records live, webcasts, and publishes recorded meetings; provides troubleshooting, user support and assistance during meetings as required.
- Performs routine maintenance and administration for audio visual system software and equipment; implements software upgrades and protocols; configures, tests, and maintains software, equipment and system settings; sets up and maintains user access; develops user procedures and guides; prepares and updates system documentation.
- Maintains liaison with audio visual hardware and software vendors, user groups, information technology staff, and consultants engaged in the delivery of audio visual services; coordinates information and the delivery of problem resolution services as required.
- Oversees contractors engaged in the installation and set-up of audio visual systems; ensures that work performed meets specified requirements; and participates in the work alongside service delivery staff as required.
- Provides comprehensive audio-visual support for events, including the set-up, testing, operation, troubleshooting and take-down of equipment; and directs related work as required.
- Performs research to support the evaluation and development of audio visual services; participates in identifying, preparing, and reviewing system requirements; and makes recommendations regarding adopting new technologies.
- Prepares and maintains records, reports, documentation and correspondence related to the work.
- Performs related work as required.
**Knowledge, Skills & Abilities**:
- A+ (Plus) certification
- A strong technical foundational knowledge of: computers, peripheral equipment in a computer or audio visual environment; video mixers or camera selectors; networking technologies and network communication protocols; PC, MAC, iOS and Android devices as it relates to Audio Visual technologies; Webex, Zoom, and other leading end-user conferencing solutions.
- Extensive experience with troubleshooting Audio/Video conferencing and integrated Audio Visual technologies in a large enterprise environment.
- Familiarity with some of the following Audio/Video solution vendors: MVI, YouTube, Granicus, Crestron, Extron,Polycom, Cisco.
- Considerable knowledge of the practices and procedures related to the configuration, maintenance and operation of computer software and hardware as applicable to the work.
- Sound knowledge of computer software, hardware and network components as applicable to the work.
- Sound knowledge of departmental rules, regulations, policies and procedures related to the work.
- Sound knowledge of the practices and procedures used in the identification and resolution of problems as related to the work performed.
- Ability to investigate, document, assess and resolve software and hardware problems, and to liaise with technical specialists on the more complex problems.
- Ability to record and film meetings, make adjustments to equipment, resolve technical issues and edit and convert recordings.
- Ability to perform a variety of system administration tasks and to install and configure computer software and hardware.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to provide user support and assistance as required.
- Ability to identify issues, improvements and additional needs related to the operation of audio visual systems.
