Research Assistant, Community Health Sciences

**Position Overview**
Reporting to the Principal Project Investigators and the Project Coordinators, the Research Assistant will be responsible for participant recruitment: for the project titled: "A subsidized healthy food prescription program for adults with type 2 diabetes who are experiencing food insecurity (Healthy Food Rx)" study.
The purpose of the Healthy Food Rx study is to improve the health of people with type 2 diabetes and food insecurity by providing them with a healthy food incentive.
The employee must be willing to do occasional travel within Alberta for recruitment activities.
This is a recurring part-time position with variable hours. Recurring part-time employees are hourly employees engaged to perform work on an irregular schedule.
**Position Description**
**Summary of Key Responsibilities** (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Will work closely with members of the research team to recruit study participant
- Prepare, edit, and proofread study materials
- Ability to find creative recruitment strategies
- Call or visit organizations, health clinics, and pharmacies across Alberta to gain more interest in the study
- Manage social media platforms to aid with recruitment
- Deliver study materials to organizations in Alberta
- Use and provide simple maintenance of fax, scanner and photocopier
- Assist with additional study tasks as required
**Qualifications / Requirements**:
- Post-Secondary Certificate/Diploma/Degree
- Minimum 2 years of marketing/sales/research experience
- Must be comfortable with cold-calling
- Strong written and verbal communication skills are a necessity
- Immediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet skills
- Experience working with REDCap is an asset
- A valid Class 5 driver's license (cannot be a graduated license) with proven good driving record (abstract required)
- Previous experience working with patients in a medical/clinical setting is an asset
- Ability to operate and maintain various office equipment (eg. photocopier, fax machine)
- Demonstrated strong communication, team and customer service skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines
- Must be friendly and approachable
- Must have expertise with social media platforms
- Must have strong multi-tasking and time management skills
- A positive attitude and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are critical to success
- Must have a valid driver's license and a private vehicle for transportation
- Must demonstrate strong communication, team and customer service skills, and an ability to exercise judgment within established guidelines
