**Purpose**
The Project specialist will coordinate the overall Preparation and Production of the Tax reporting for globally held assets in Prime brokerage, Scotia Capital Inc., Scotia Wealth Management, ITRADE, Scotia Trust, BNS Custody Services and BNS Foreign Subsidiaries. Ensuring all activities conducted follow governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures. The Project Specialist will provide administrative and coordination support and guidance for the seamless execution of key Tax reporting deliverables to allow for transformation and compliance adherence. They will work closely under the guidance of the QI, CRA Snr. managers, Global taxation and respective Business lines and partner GWO teams to oversee the delivery of the tax campaign through project management methodology and discipline.
**Position Highlights**
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
- Implementation of consistency in best practices of client coverage, escalation, and incident resolution. Identification of synergies and process improvement
- Oversees responsibilities of assigned staff and responsible for the maintenance/development of performance metrics and evaluations
- Play a crucial role in ensuring that Scotiabank’s reputation is protected by adhering to Scotiabank compliance and risk framework.
- Ensure operational efficiency of the Tax Reporting Team is maintained at a high level in accordance with approved policy and procedures
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure regulatory tax processing is conducted at an accurate and high level
- Assist Team in the day-to-day duties of production administration and management
- Assist Management in the planning and delivery of production tasks, and tax-development tasks
- Work with the cross functional tax delivery staff to develop, coordinate, and implement tasks related to specific production processes
- Using the principals of Project Management, to plan, create, and manage the Tax Delivery production schedule and Tax Dry-Run production schedule. Assist in initiating, executing, monitoring, and completion of these tasks
- Coordinate with technical teams to prioritize and address code deficiencies. Develop a tracking system to monitor ongoing statuses and risks relating to software defects discovered during tax production and testing
- Evaluate risk levels relating to code deficiencies and suggest ways to redeploy workarounds.
- Create, prioritize, and meet assigned work deadlines and priorities; demonstrate the ability to build, calibrate, and follow detailed project plans. Ensure stakeholders are aligned on dates and responsibilities outlined in the relevant production project plan, and dynamically address production disruptions
- Understand and coordinate with technical teams in the establishment of technical environments for testing and production
- Coordinate and chair production status meetings, and status presentations including recording of issues raised, risks, minutes, and scheduling. Prepare and maintain meeting minutes, status presentations, templates, processes, and artifacts
- Through personal initiative, establish processes and methodologies that allow for continual improvement on all production processes. Coordinate through situational leadership impacted parties in a dynamic way to ensure an enhanced and more efficient delivery of tax reporting
