Walkies Pet Sitting is seeking a dedicated and caring Pet Sitter to join our team.

Founded in 2005, Walkies Pet Sitting is a premier pet care service provider serving Winnipeg’s River Heights, Crescentwood, Tuxedo, Charleswood, St James, West End Fort Garry, Fort Rouge, St Vital and St Boniface neighbourhoods. As an independent contract pet sitter, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional and personalized care and attention to our clients' beloved pets.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Provide enriching and enjoyable experiences for dogs during 30, 45 or 60 minute walks including safe navigation of city streets, hazard avoidance, negotiating interactions, waste pickup and disposal, and play and feedings where requested.
- In-home pet care, including feeding, exercising, waste cleanup (litter boxes, cages, accidents etc), light grooming.
- Follow specific care instructions provided by clients to maintain consistency in the pets' routines and care.
- Administering medications or following specific medical or dietary instructions provided by pet owners.
- Engage in interactive playtime and maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for the pets.
- Offer companionship and ensure emotional well-being for the animals during their owners' absence through play and interaction (pats, grooming, cuddles).
- Monitor the health and behavior of pets and promptly report any concerns to the business owner.
- Provide visit summaries and photos to business owner to keep pet parents informed about their pet's activities, health and happiness.
- Notify business owner promptly about any concerns or issues that may arise during pet sitting.
- May be required to transport animals.

Your Experience with Animals:

- Demonstrated experience in handling and caring for a variety of pets, including dogs, cats, birds, and small animals.
- Understanding animal behavior and the ability to recognize signs of distress or illness.
- Proficiency in handling challenging situations with pets including onset of illness, injury, separation anxiety and temperamental behaviour (reactivity) or animals with special needs.
- Ability to handle and safely control more than one dog/leash.
- Previous experience working in an animal shelter, veterinary clinic, or pet care facility is highly desirable.
- Comfortable handling pets of various sizes, breeds, and temperaments.
- Ability to adapt to changeable schedules (last minute bookings, cancellations) and different pet care routines.
- Grooming experience including nail trimming would be considered an asset.

**Requirements**:

- A valid Class 5 Driver's License and reliable transportation to travel to clients' homes as needed.
- Able to provide a clear criminal records check and vulnerable sectors check.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends (including holidays) to accommodate clients' schedules.
- Physically fit and capable of walking several kilometres in a day in all kinds of weather.
- Capable of bending and lifting to handle litter cleaning or manage dogs and pets of various sizes and breeds.
- Strong communication skills to interact with business owner and/or pet parents to provide updates on pets' overall status and well-being (we call them Cat Chronicles and Dog Diaries).
- Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and respect for clients' homes and privacy.
