Redcedar Environmental operates out of Chilliwack BC.
Environmental consultant
The position will be based out of the Chilliwack office and will include a mix of office and field work in the Lower Mainland.
Opportunities to work from home will continue until COVID measures are no longer in place, with a hybrid model available once office work resumes in November.
- Strong field technician skills and physically able to work long hours in difficult terrain and in all weather conditions.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Ability to recognize common native and non-native plant species.
- Experience with natural resource measurements.
- Experience with watercourse assessments and understanding of the basics of watercourse assessments.
- Experience assessing terrestrial habitat conditions.
- Knowledge of local wildlife species, with a focus on species at risk.
- Ability to recognize birds by sight or call would be considered an asset.
- Experience with AutoCAD would be considered an asset.
- Experience with the use of GPS technology and GIS would be considered an asset.
- Basic understanding of local bylaws; provincial legislation (e.g. _Water Sustainability Act_; _Wildlife Act_); and federal legislation (_Fisheries Act_) would be considered an asset.
- Electrofishing certification would be considered an asset.
- Herbicide applicator’s certificate would be considered an asset.
Through strategic partnerships with OTG Developments Ltd. and AMR Systems Ltd., Redcedar Environmental also provides some land use planning consulting services and professional survey services. Assistance in those fields may be required.
Full-time work at Redcedar Environmental consists of 72 to 80 hours every two weeks, with every second Friday off. Remuneration would be based on applicant experience and on typical industry standards.
