World Education Services is looking for a Special Assistant in the Office of the Managing Director (MD) of Social Impact to work closely with the MD and her Chief of Staff. This role will work closely with leadership from WES’ programmatic, policy, and philanthropic teams in the U.S. and Canada to set strategic priorities, ensure strong execution and follow-through for key initiatives, strengthen alignment and coordination across Social Impact teams. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with all aspects of growing a social impact enterprise, as well as exposure to the fields of philanthropy, impact investing, policy advocacy, immigrant integration, and more.

The Special Assistant reports to the Chief of Staff of Social Impact and will work closely and collaboratively with all members of the WES Social Impact teams in the U.S. and Canada, such as the WES Mariam Assefa Fund and Global Talent Bridge, as well as WES’ Office of the CEO, and other functional teams.

***Location & Work Environment**

We are a distributed, hybrid team with several colleagues working out of WES’ NYC and Toronto offices and others working virtually from other cities in the U.S. and Canada. Some team members based near local offices work out of the office 1-2 days a week and spend the remainder of the week working remotely. However, schedules are flexible and local colleagues can also choose to work wholly from home. WES’ office spaces in NYC and Toronto are shared, open office environments with break-out and meeting rooms and light to moderate noise.

**Duties included but not limited to**:
**Facilitate the effectiveness of the Office of Managing Director of Social Impact**
- Join the MD of Social Impact and Chief of Staff for selected high priority meetings such as Board meetings and quarterly reviews to track discussions and manage follow-up.
- Support preparation for high priority meetings, such as research, drafting talking points, copyediting and formatting PowerPoint decks, and compiling and formatting slides.
- Manage the MD of Social Impact and Chief of Staff calendars and activities, and triage inbound requests from internal and external stakeholders.
- Coordinate travel arrangements and event/conference registration and filing expenses for the MD of Social Impact.
- Assist with special projects as they arise, such as ad-hoc research or special events.

**Provide cross-functional support across the Social Impact Team**
- Support Social Impact teams’ preparation for and involvement in key processes, such as dashboard development, quarterly reviews, quarterly Board meetings, and annual priority and budget-setting processes.
- Work with the Chief of Staff to ensure strong execution and follow-through for key initiatives, strengthening alignment and coordination across Social Impact teams.
- Organize and coordinate internal meetings, staff retreats, and celebrations, in collaboration with the Chief of Staff.

**Requirements**:

- 2+ years of related professional experience coordinating administrative activities and/or events.

- Collaborative and a team player.
- Bachelor’s degree or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must live in the Province of Ontario or British Columbia
