**NISHS is Hiring a Part-Time or Full-Time Clinical Counsellor**

The Clinical Counsellor provides professional counselling for people affected by various forms of trauma and abuse.

North Island Survivors' Healing Society, (NISHS), has been in operation in Campbell River since 1993. The Centre provides a safe space for people from all walks of life who wish to explore therapy with counsellors who are trained to work specifically with those who have experienced trauma or are currently experiencing symptoms of post-traumatic stress. At NISHS we support a wide range of recognized and evidence-based approaches to supporting individuals affected by trauma and abuse.

**Job Tasks and Responsibilities**
- The Clinical Counsellor facilitates the therapeutic approach for each of their clients
- Provide in-depth counselling and some short term counselling
- Manage a caseload and provide therapy to clients
- The Clinical Counsellor meets regularly with the clinical team
- The Clinical Counsellor meets regularly with Clinical Consultant
- Facilitate professional group therapy, (not a requirement but potential)
- Communicate with third-party organizations as required
- Maintain client records including progress notes per privacy laws and agency standards
- Collaborates with the Clinical Consultant or the Executive Director when additional support is necessary

**Required Skills & Experience**:

- You understand and agree to work with the same VALUES upheld by NISHS
- You possess a Masters degree in Counselling or a related field
- You are registered or eligible for registration with a related professional association. (Exp. BCACC, CCAPA)
- Understanding of basic technology, (Standard office technology and the ability to work online)
- Communicate in a professional manner both written and verbally
- Strong understanding of the English language and common clinical terminology
- You uphold all applicable professional membership codes of conduct and ethics that you belong to

**Compensation & Working Conditions**
- 20 Hours/week for Part-Time or 30 Hours/week for Full-Time
- $42/hr
- Regular schedule and includes a minimum of one evening per week
- Health/Wellness Benefits after 6 months
- Administrative tasks completed by administrative team members
- Collaborative professional relationship with Clinical Consultant
- Collaborative professional relationship with the NISHS team of Clinical Counsellors

IF you completed your Masters degree outside of Canada, you will need to have your degree assessed by a recognized international credential evaluation service, such as bcit.ca/ices to be eligible for registration in a professional counselling association in Canada. This position reports to the Executive Director
