The Yorklands Green Hub (YGH) is a non-profit organization working to create a one-of-a-kind green hub in Guelph for the benefit of the community on part of the former Ontario Reformatory (OR) heritage lands. The vision of Yorklands Green Hub is to foster environmental sustainability through educational programming and advocacy, and the public use and stewardship of the Yorklands site.

The Program Facilitator will work with a small group of parents/caregivers and their children aged between 4- and 11-years facilitating walks through the Yorklands site and inspiring the children to observe and learn about nature followed by some art activities stimulated by what they observed on their walks. The program is 2 hours long and occurs two mornings per week for 4 weeks in July and August.

As a Noticing Nature Facilitator, you will be tasked with:

- Preparing age-appropriate art activities as needed for each ½ day
- Facilitating walks on site pointing out features of nature (ie. Wildlife, insects, plants, trees, etc.)
- Engaging children and adults in conversation, observations and art activities ensuring activities are child-led wherever possible and safe
- Take attendance at each session
- Ensure all art activities and supplies are collected and stored in a safe place between sessions
- Assist with the development and administration of an online survey for the evaluation of Noticing Nature
- Assist with social media posting and other methods of promotion as needed
- Perform other tasks as required

**Qualifications**:

- Solid knowledge of ecology, nature, importance of pollinators, and wildlife.
- Two to five years of experience working with both young children and their parents/caregivers and ability to engage with them and keep their interest.
- Preferred knowledge and experience with facilitating child-led, nature-based activities.
- Experience with art-based activities for children.
- Good communication and organizational skills
- Familiarity with the site is strongly preferred
- Vulnerable Sector check is required
- Up-to-date First Aid Certificate

**Working Conditions**:

- This is a temporary contract 7 hours per week for 4 weeks (July 16, 18, 23, 25; Aug 13,15, 20,22)
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces outdoors for extended periods of time
- Location: 785 York Rd, Guelph
