The Strathcona Museum & Archives ("Strathma") collects, preserves, promotes, and displays the history and heritage of Strathcona County. Located in Sherwood Park, Strathma strives to provide innovative, immersive experiences for visitors of all ages

Strathma is seeking Museum Educators to join our summer team.

This position will work under the programming, education, and outreach department to deliver programs to school groups, community groups, walk-in visitors, public events, and outdoor summer camp participants.

**ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA**:
To be eligible, youth must:

- be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period,
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

**DUTIES**:

- Greeting and orienting museum visitors
- Delivery of educational programs to elementary students
- Conducting guided tours
- Engagement with the general public on-site and at outreach events
- Contributing to social media content creation and online engagement to promote the Strathma's activities and events
- Assisting with special events organized by the museum
- Helping maintain cleanliness and organization of museum spaces
- Helping with administrative tasks, including answering phone calls and processing donations
- Assisting in program development, as required
- Assisting in museum research and exhibit development, as required

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Must be able to work outdoors, and be able to adapt to inclement weather conditions
- Strong preference for applicants with reliable personal vehicle for transportation to and from the museum and off-site events
- Valid CRP certification is an asset
- Some post-secondary education in social sciences and/or natural sciences preferred

**Job Types**: Full-time, Temporary
Contract length: 16 weeks

**Salary**: $17.50 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
