**Volunteer West Island (VWI) **is a non-profit organization located in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue that facilitates volunteerism by recruiting, training, and referring volunteers to meet the diverse needs of the Montreal West Island community. In addition, we assist seniors to remain autonomous by offering programs and services that break their isolation.

Reporting to the Executive Director, **the Volunteer Services & Recruitment Coordinator manages **all elements of volunteering involved in assessing community organizations’ needs and then meeting those needs through the recruitment, placement and retention of volunteers. The Coordinator will be specifically responsible for developing, implementing, and coordinating programs to empower and engage all citizens to volunteer. The

Coordinator will promote and help West Island groups in implementing volunteer management systems, standards, and procedures to help build healthy resilient communities through the capacity of volunteers.

**Key Responsibilities**

**General**
- Process communications and perform all related tasks pertaining to volunteer recruitment for all ages.
- Promote volunteering through publicity strategies, media attention, social media campaigns, and by advertising available opportunities to registered volunteers and contacts in VWI’s database
- Engage the community and on the importance of cultivating a positive and supportive approach to volunteer recognition and lead recognition efforts for VWI’s own volunteers.
- Work with multiple agencies across different sectors in order to establish good working relationships to influence decisions about volunteering
- Keep up-to-date with legislation and policies related to volunteering (10 steps of screening, code for volunteer involvement, rights and responsibilities, new training offerings for volunteers etc.)
- Maintain and update volunteer database, ensure website is updated with volunteer positions, and assist with daily operations of VWI
- Accomplish all other administrative tasks related to the position

**Individuals**
- Generate appropriate volunteering opportunities and insure compatibility between volunteers and the needs of the organizations
- Ensure volunteers are connected to key organizational communication platforms and offer volunteers support and guidance when requested

**Groups**
- Liaise regularly with local non-profit organizations to develop partnerships and assess their volunteering needs
- Recruit and refer volunteers based on the needs of the local programs and services managed by internal staff
- Exchange regularly with community groups and offer advice, information, support, and regular training on standards and procedures regarding volunteer recruitment
- Support and coordinate activities recognizing all volunteers
- Share and help coordinate placement and matching of large groups of volunteers that require a solid coordination with the Volunteer Recruitment Coordinators responsible for Youth and Corporate groups
- Periodically represent VWI at external community events and participate in various local community committees/tables and Volunteer Fairs
- Develop and maintain program evaluation methods including regular monitoring of volunteer data and tracking to evaluate program effectiveness and growth opportunities
- Monitor and evaluate activities and volunteer engagement impact and write reports for funders and other partners when necessary
- Ensure the provision of orientation and instructions to volunteers and student interns

**Competencies and Knowledge Requirements**
- Professional experience and/or relevant post-secondary education in a related field and/or work experience
- Excellent organizational skills with ability to work effectively on multiple projects; solve problems; meet deadlines; and work independently
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Fluent in French and English, written and spoken
- Strong background in volunteer management, personnel development, or other related fields
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and computers in general
- Experience working in a non-profit or charity organization an asset
- Willingness and ability to commit to the position for a minimum of three years

**Working Conditions**
- Full-time permanent position - 28 -35 hours/week (hybrid working model)
