Sprinkler Fitter/ Fire Protection Technician

**Position**:
The Fire Sprinkler Fitter is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler systems in new build commercial and residential buildings.

**Essential Functions**:

- Installation, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler systems.
- Install and maintain fire sprinkler systems. (This is a heavy lifting and a moderate amount of work)
- Liaise with management, engineers and other trades
- Instruct apprentices
- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and controlequipment
- Install clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping system and sprinkler and fi re protectionequipment, using hand and power tools
- Installs valves, alarms and associated equipment
- Join pipes and piping sections using soldering and welding equipment
- Select, measure, cut, ream and thread pipe, install sprinkler heads and mount prepared pipe insupports
- Service and repair sprinkler system
- Supervise other workers
- Test system for leaks using air or liquid pressure equipment
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size
- Select type and size of pipe required
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of pipingsystem
- Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings and specifi cations
- Other duties as assigned by manager.

**Qualifications**:

- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to withstand exposure to weather-related outdoor activities, including heat, dust, pollen, sun, cold, and rain.
- Must be able to operate a manual or automatic manual forklift and manual or automatic power pallet jack.
- Must be able to climb ladders at least 30 feet high, multiple times per day, for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to travel on-site as necessary to deliver service parts and equipment.
- Must be able to work at height in some cases, up to 50 feet (on occasion)
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, design specifications, and procedure manuals.
- Must have vaild Drivers Licence
