**JOB SUMMARY**:
Working closely with the Manager of Building Services and the Maintenance Coordinator, the Maintenance Worker will be responsible for overall upkeep and repair of the building, equipment and grounds of Victoria Manor to all regulatory standards.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Perform general routine maintenance, preventative maintenance and routine repairs to facility, equipment, furnishings, fixtures and grounds in accordance with applicable codes and regulations.
- Provide general assistance to skilled trade persons such as mechanics, electricians, carpenters, plumbers, painters, etc., as required.
- Assist with internal resident moves and admissions (furniture moving, picture hanging, inspect new resident appliances, etc.)
- Adhere to policies and procedures regarding quality improvement, safety, environment and infection control.
- Maintain good communication with other departments and work cooperatively in carrying out duties to assure the needs of residents are being met while ensuring resident confidentiality is maintained.
- Maintain work area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner and assure proper care in use of tools, equipment and supplies.
- Assist in fire drills, respond to alarms (part of fire team).
- Receive supplies; check for accuracy and sign off.
- Willingness to attend seminars and courses to remain up-to-date on the ever-changing trends and maintenance issues in the LTC field.
- Any other duties which from time to time may be assigned, within the scope of abilities and qualifications.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- College diploma in building maintenance or license in one of the following trades, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration.
- 2 years maintenance experience.
- Experience in a health care environment with working knowledge of LTC standards and familiarity with industrial equipment repairs preferred.
- Ability to read, write and understand oral and written instructions, interpret manuals.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks with frequent walking/standing and heavy lifting.
- Demonstrated strong organizational and planning skills.
- Thorough knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, Fire Code, Building Codes in a Long Term Care setting.
- Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license and access to a vehicle on occasion - mileage as per corporate policy.

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Interaction with a diverse group of residents.
- Combination of natural light and fluorescent lighting.
- Exposure to the elements (external building and property).
- Exposure to variable temperatures both hot and cold.
- Lifting alone and with assistance.
- Pushing/pulling content.
- Crouching, kneeling, stooping/bending for short periods of time.
- Walking and climbing stairs frequently.
- Standing for long periods of time.

**Salary**: $22.85-$24.85 per hour
