**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Handyperson

Reports To:
Operations Manager/Production Manager

Hours of Work:
8 a.m. to 5 p.m./ 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Regular afterhours on-call rotation required; Regular overtime required

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Measure, cut and fit drywall sheets on walls and ceilings
- Fill joints, nail indentations, holes and cracks with joint compound
- Install insulation and vapour barrier as required
- Install casing, baseboards, cabinetry, closet shelving and interior doors
- as well as assisting with board-ups and framing
- Complete demolition of areas damaged by fire and water
- Assist in building/repairing exterior structures (fence, shed, decks, etc.)
- Detach/re-attach light fixtures
- Detach-re-attach faucets
- Load and unload construction materials and move to work areas
- Protect and manipulate contents onsite in order to complete restoration
- Explain procedures to occupants/clients while supporting Con-Tech DKI’s Customer Service philosophy
- Play an active role in meeting client required Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
- Assist in the determination of salvageable and non-salvageable structures and materials
- Prepare written and verbal reports to the Project Manager and their team regarding the status of work being completed on assigned sites.
- Participate in regular on-call rotation for afterhours emergency services including but not limited to water extraction, tear out of affected building material, board ups, setting up equipment, etc.
- Keep work spaces safe and tidy including dust protection as required
- Other duties as required

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 2+ years experience in drywall, painting and other related fields is considered beneficial or equivalent training/certification through recognized institutions
- Knowledge of construction related hand tools and power tools
- Knowledge of building materials and basic construction fundamentals including cabinets, plumbing and electrical
- Experience in custodial work, pressure washing, carpet cleaning is considered beneficial
- Rough carpentry skills an asset
- Tiling experience an asset
- Must provide own tools for drywall, paint and carpentry
- Clean criminal record
- Valid G Ontario Driver’s License required with satisfactory driver abstract
- Basic math skills
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs on your own
- WHMIS and First Aid Certification an asset
- Working at heights and other safety training are assets
- Forklift license is an asset

**WORKING CONDITIONS**:

- Work is of a physical nature
- Will work in dirty and/or wet conditions; work site may be contaminated with heavy smoke residue, mould, mildew, contaminated water or other unsanitary conditions
- CSA boots and appropriate PPE must be worn at all times when on a job site; personal Protective equipment including Tyvek suits and half-face respirators are available for use and at times are mandatory; clean shaven appearance required for respirator use
