**Research Assistant 2, Respiratory Oncology**

We are seeking a Research Assistant to join the Breathomic’s Research team at BC Cancer Research Institute in Vancouver, BC. Our group focuses on early lung cancer detection through the detection of volatile organic compounds from breath. The job will include: assisting in the collection of clinical samples, analyzing samples using our gas chromatography-mass spectrometry systems and associated softwares (Thermo Orbitrap Exploris, Markes Bench-ToF), processing and statistical analysis of high-resolution metabolomic data outputs, and assisting in the preparation of publications. A background in analytical chemistry is required.

**What you’ll do**
- Perform a variety of established technical procedures according to written protocols.
- Perform experiments by following established laboratory procedures according to written protocols.
- Record results, including computer data entry.
- Provide input regarding modification of procedures as requested by the Department Head, Principal Investigator, or designate.
- Maintain and store cell lines and primary cultures.
- Maintain and store test materials and products.
- Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- May demonstrate work methods or procedures to less experienced assistants as designated.

**What you bring**
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from a recognized Bachelor’s program in an appropriate discipline (ex. M.Sc. in analytical chemistry OR a B.Sc. in chemistry with 1-2 years laboratory experience and a strong analytical chemistry background).
- Two (2) years of recent related experience in a research laboratory
- Have experience with gas-chromatography mass spectrometry. Experience with ion mobility spectrometry would be a bonus.
- Have strong computer skills, particularly Excel. Experience with programming languages would be beneficial.
- Be highly organized and able to communicate effectively with other team members.

**Job Type: Temporary, Full-Time (Until March 01, 2024)**

**Salary Range: $50,150- $65,822.**

**Location: 675 West 10th Avenue, Vancouver BC, V5Z 1G1**
