**What Are We About?**:
Reporting to the Director, Student Experience and Athletics and receiving functional guidance from the Student Life and Recreation Coordinator/Frost Campus, the Head Coach is accountable for all duties associated with the operation of the hockey program to create an excellent environment for Fleming student athletes to develop and succeed.

The Head Coach provide leadership, and development for Assistant Coaches, Student Athletes and Volunteers in pursuit of educational and athletic goals. The Head Coach is responsible for the conduct of coaching staff and student athletes while representing the College as part of the team in all capacities. Responsible for the maintenance of high safety standards and equipment and determination of program equipment needs in consultation with the Student Life and Recreation Coordinator/Frost Campus. The Head Coach will identify, recruit and select quality student athletes to make up the team and ensuring eligibility of athletes and ensuring technical, tactical, physical and psychological preparation of the team and athletes. The Head Coach will support identified fundraising and promotional opportunities to support the program and Fleming Athletics and Recreation and have knowledge and compliance with Fleming College, OCAA, OCR and CCAA rules and regulations.

Please Note: The competitive season begins in September and runs through March. The team practices onceper week. Fleming competes in the OCAA East Region. Home & away schedule:plays an exhibition series of games, tournaments, and potential of playoff games/Rec Cup.

Please Note: This is a temporary opportunity ending on March 31, 2024. The hours of work for the Head Coach will be directly based upon the requirements of the team practice, game schedules, identified team recruitment, promotion opportunities and events, but will not exceed 100 hours for the contract period.

**What We Are Looking For**:

- 2-year diploma in business, recreation and leisure, sports management or, equivalent.
- Two (2) years’ experience and proven competence as a coach, preferably at the post-secondary level including:

- NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) Coaching Stream - Certified, is preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal, team building and communication skills
- Industry trends related to athletics (i.e. concussion protocol, accessibility in sport)
- Demonstrated ability to embrace equity, diversity and inclusion and reconcile significantly diverse viewpoints.
- Prior experience with supervision of staff.
- Complex problem solving skills.
- This position will require a time commitment involving both evenings and weekends based on the OCAA/OCR and Fleming schedule, identified exhibition games, training, and events.
