**Role**:
The position of Disability Services Supervisor plays a pivotal role in providing leadership, coaching, support, direction and consultation for all Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) and/or Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) Program staff. It also provides support and direction to families, guardians, and individuals with developmental disabilities, agencies/service providers and community partners. Reporting to a Program Manager in the North Zone, the Disability Services Supervisor is responsible for managing a team of Disability Services Caseworkers, these professionals work directly with individuals and families to live as full citizens in their communities.

This is a front-line leadership role that impacts the quality of services provided to clients of FSCD or PDD programs. Leads, directs, supports, controls and enables or influences staff’s capacity, competency, skill, ability and understanding to perform their duties. Continually monitors and evaluates staff compliance to legislation, regulation, standards and policy. Responsible for the performance management cycle for direct reports.

Team function may range from specialized duties such as new file assignment to complex needs. As a liaison to the management team, you will translate strategic direction into aligned operational processes. Your strong communication, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills will serve you well as you handle a variety of challenging situations. Your exemplary leadership, analytical and organizational skills will be the key to your success in this dynamic role.

**Qualifications**:
University Degree in a related Social Service discipline (Social Work, Psychology, Community Development, Rehabilitation and Disability Studies) and a minimum 2 years related experience.

**Equivalency**:

- Master's degree and 1-year related experience.
- Related university degree and 4 years related experience.
- Related diploma and 5 years related experience.
- Related certificate and 6 years related experience.

**Assets**:

- Demonstrated supervisory work experience
- Familiarity with a broad range of human services resources in order to advise a variety of stakeholders (i.e. AISH, Alberta Health Services, OPG/T, Children’s Services)
- Working knowledge of FSCD/PDD’s mission and vision
- Cultural competence and sensitivity
- Understanding of personnel policies and procedures and Human Resources directives
- Skills in Windows and Microsoft Office are essential, in addition to well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Familiarity of (some of) the following:

- Persons with Developmental Disabilities Services Act, Regulation, policies, procedures and standards;
- Family Support for Children with Disabilities Act, Regulation, policies, procedures and standards;
- The Protection of Persons in Care Act;
- Collective Agreement
- Occupational Health & Safety
- The Code of Conduct and Ethics
- The Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act
- Abuse Prevention Response Protocol
- The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act
