**Reports to**: Laboratory Supervisor
**Classification**: LT1
About the Position
The Laboratory Technician 1 will assist in day-to-day operation of the laboratory and contribute to the overall productivity of the lab.
Specific Responsibilities
- Standardize equipment as needed;
- Process samples according to SOPs;
- Data entry results;
- Ensure the quality of the analytical data meets ALS standards and strict QA/QC requirements;
- Meet Turn Around Times (TAT) and hold times;
- Perform routine maintenance and ensure that instrumentation is in good working order;
- Keep registers up to date;
- General laboratory clean-up and maintenance;
- Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
- Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Organized with proven ability to work to deadlines;
- Highly motivated;
- Detail oriented;
- Able to work independently and as part of a team;
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal);
- Good understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Required Qualifications
- College Diploma or University Degree with Chemical background;
- Lab experience an asset;
- Ability to process data, data reviewing;
- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Excel.
Physical Demands
- Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
- Ability to stand for up to a full shift;
- Lift and carry up to 30 lbs;
You may be exposed to unpleasant odours.
