**JOB DESCRIPTION**

The Aquatic Coordinator is accountable for the onsite supervision of all aquatic programs for participants of all ages and abilities. The coordinator provides leadership to a team of Leadership Trainers, Head Lifeguards/Head Instructors/Instructors/Lifeguards, Coaches, Assistant Instructors, and Volunteers and ensures that all aquatic programs and services run safely and effectively.

**DUTIES**
- Supervise and evaluate all staff and volunteers responsible for carrying out aquatic programs.
- Responsible for the final check of all safety equipment and locations to ensure the safety and program efficiency.
- Monitor the use of equipment, safety checks for equipment being used. (Swim lessons equipment, health & safety checks)
- Complete administrative duties in a timely manner and meet deadlines.
- Complete and maintain accurate records of program statistics as required.
- Report all concerns, accidents, and incidents to immediate supervisor for follow up and take appropriate action.
- Understand, adhere, and enforce corporate policies and procedures, confidentiality. guidelines, emergency procedures and Health and safety standards.
- Attend meetings and pre-season, in-service training.
- Help register, transfer & refund participants as required.
- Assist in updating seasonal brochure and perform building checks.
- Plan, organize and deliver high quality safe and stimulating programs for all levels of participants.
- Ensure staff are following program plans and legislative requirements.
- Facilitate aquatic leadership courses
- Provide support as Coach, Head Lifeguard/ Instructor, Lifeguard, or Instructor.
- Assist with hiring and evaluation and on-going coaching
- Assist in the development, implementation, and supervision of all aquatic programs.
- Assist with planning, implementation & evaluation of a comprehensive preseason training & in-services throughout the season.
- Assist with the planning, developing, implementing of special events & media. (OLT Competitions, water-smart, drowning prevention week, Wibit)
- Maintain an understanding of department programs and services.
- Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Current Lifesaving National Lifeguard Pool.
- Current Lifesaving Society Swim instructors, Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor, and Lifesaving Society Emergency First Aid Instructor.
- Standard First Aid with CPR -C (dated within 3 years).
- Aquatic Supervisor Training.
- Lifesaving Society Bronze Examiner.
- National Lifeguard Instructor/ Examiner.
- Standard First Aid Instructor/Examiner.
- Lifesaving Society Swim and Lifesaving Instructor Trainer.
- Lifesaving Society Coach Level 1 an asset
- Extensive experience conducting leadership courses.
- Exceptional customer service, as well as good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
- Previous leadership experience working with children.
- Reliable with a positive, responsible attitude.
- High Five: Principles in Healthy Child Development an asset
- Additional trainer, examiner and instructor awards considered an asset.
- Experience using Active Net is considered an asset.
- Experience using staff scheduling system is considered an asset.
