Soccer Coach

**Active Start**

Be the Lead Coach for Oceanside's Active Start soccer program. Active Start offers a fun introduction to soccer for U4 to U6 players.

Two seasons, both typically 10-week sessions

Fall: September to beginning of December

Spring: April to Beginning of June

**Wages**

Hourly rate of $24.50

Expected hours per season are 50-60 hours.

**Program Overview**

U4-U5

60 min on field sessions led by Coaching staff for each large group. Sessions will include focuses on general movement, coordination, soccer technique and small sided games. The players will spend most of their session in small groups working with the coaches. The expected ratio of players to coaches is 8:1.

Parents or Guardians are required to be at the field during the session and assist their player when needed.

U6

60 min on field training session led by Coaching staff and Parent Volunteers. The focus will be movement, coordination, intro, and review of soccer skills. Implementation of focuses into games and drills. Sessions will be divided into smaller groups with expected ratio of players to coaches 8:1. For training sessions, players will not be divided into “teams”. There is one weekday training for U6 age group, usually on Wednesdays from 4:30 to 5:30pm doing many of the same drills.

**Duties Include**:

- Guiding 2-3 youth coaches to facilitate the program
- Hiring and recruiting coaches/staff. Coordinate, mentor, and track performance of youth coaches.
- Communicate with the player group, group manager and Board of Directors.
- Leads on field sessions. (Session plans and drills provide by club via Canada Soccer)
- Attend 2 board meetings annually.

**Core Competencies**
- High level of energy with a love of children and soccer
- Experience in playing/coaching soccer preferred
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Available every Saturday morning and Wednesday evening through both Fall and Spring Seasons.

Saturday 8:30-2pm and Wednesday evening from 4:15pm to 6:15pm
- Completion of Canada Soccer Active Start certification. (Can complete after being hired)
- Criminal record check required. (Provided by Oceanside FC)

**Salary**: $24.00-$25.00 per hour
