**Your Opportunity**:
Fort Sask. Correctional Centre houses approximately 500 remanded and sentenced clients. The Addictions & Mental Health team at this site includes psychologists, clinical social workers, RN/RPNs, social workers and addictions counsellors. Reporting to the Healthcare Manager, the Addiction Counselor works within the context of a multidisciplinary team located within the correctional centre environment. The incumbent will ensure the development, implementation, and on-going administration of enhanced Mental Health & Addiction services for residing patients in correctional environments. Key Responsibilities: Completes mental health and addiction functional assessments utilizing standardized assessments, protocols, and clinical pathways. Providing individual and group counseling services as well as workshop development and facilitation. Develops and prioritizes an effective individualized plan of patient care, in collaboration with the inter-disciplinary team. Develops and implements interventions to assist in the management and treatment of patients with addiction issues within the criminal justice system. Provides ongoing monitoring of patients’ response to intervention, identifies deviations from expected outcomes, and assesses change in patients’ status, and intervenes accordingly. Evaluates progress toward the treatment plan goals and provides collaborative and collegial follow-up as necessary. Interprets, utilizes, and adapts educational material to support patients’ understanding of their healthcare, health promotion, and health maintenance. Participates in developing and maintaining on-going quality improvement and evaluation research.

**Description**:
As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will provide quality, client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education and referral services for clients and their families; as well as community stabilization services. You will develop and implement treatment plans and provide a range of interventions which offer least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families. You will also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of recovery goals and adapt treatment as needed. As an Addiction Counsellor III, you will depend on your excellent relationship building skills with clients, families, government staff and colleagues.

**Required Qualifications**:
Completion of a bachelor's degree in Addictions or a combination of a bachelor's degree in a related field with course work in addictions. A related degree combined with a diploma related to addictions, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, may be considered. Individuals eligible for registration under the Health Professions Act must maintain active registration. Individuals may require authorization/permission under regulation to perform restricted psychosocial interventions and/or restricted activities.

**Additional Required Qualifications**:
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Addiction and Mental Health field. Experience in the Addiction and Mental Health field is essential, preferably in a correctional setting. Current registration with the appropriate professional college or associations. Basic Cardiac Life Support
- Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
- Level C is required.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Experience working in a Correctional Facility Preferred.
