**Académie de la Capitale (Acadecap International School) is a private school in Ottawa West for JK to Grade 12. In the summer, we offer iSTEAM summer camps for ages 4 to 10, called AcadeCamp, coding summer camps for ages 8 and up, called AcadeCoders, and Athletiks also a systematic multisensory intensive literacy education (SMILE) programme for children with reading and writing difficulties.**

**This is a full-time, contract position which runs the duration of the camps.**

**Requirements**:

- **Background in physical activities and sports**:

- **Vulnerable Sector Check**:

- **First Aid and CPR training**:

- **Must be 18 and older. Grade 12, College and University students are encouraged to apply**:

- **Previous experience working with children/youth**:

- **Must be able to work independently onsite and remote based on the evolution of the pandemic and the Ontario Ministry of Health and Public Health recommendations**

**Responsibilities**:

- **Ensure the well-being and safety of all the children under your care at all times**:

- **Knowledgeable in sport skill development; familiarity with various pedagogical approaches**:

- **Teach individual and team sport workshops to children ages 4-14 in an outdoor settling, deliver core camp activities and games**:

- **Lead recreation and other programme activities including outdoor physical games, board and card games, computer based activities and off-campus trips**:

- **Assist with the set-up and break down of camp**:

- **Perform a variety of daily tasks as assigned by the camp coordinator including but not limited to: attendance, supervision during drop-off and pick-up, meal service and supervision**:

- **Understand and implement Académie de la Capitale's rules, policies, safety guidelines and practices**:

- **Help maintain a safe, sanitary and organized environment for campers and staff**:

- **Be alert to campers needs and provide assistance when required**:

- **Teach: healthy and active living skills**:

- **Supervise volunteers assigned to AcadeCamp**:

- **Mentor: build confidence, knowledge, responsibility and social adeptness in kids and teens**:

- **Collaborate: work together and support your team by going above and beyond**

**Contract length: 8 weeks**

**Job Type**: Contract

**Salary**: $19.00 per hour

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Ottawa, ON K2H 8K7: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

**Experience**:

- After-School & Camp Counsellors: 1 year (preferred)
