**ABORIST - CREW LEAD**

**COMPANY OVERVIEW**

VS Tree Services is a division of VS Landscape Group which provides residential and commercial tree services in Ottawa, Canada and the surrounding areas. VS Landscape Group has been in business for over 29 Years and has 1000’s of happy customers. VS Tree is seeking interested and motivated individual(s), who have a positive attitude and good work ethic to join their team which operates in the spring, summer, and fall seasons. Winter work is also available.

**POSITION OVERVIEW - CREW LEAD - ARBORIST**

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Provide arboricultural care for our clients by safely and efficiently leading crew(s)
- Plan work and execute tasks while directing crew members and equipment
- Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients. Including but not limited to:

- Pruning, thinning, and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
- Installation of cables, bracing and lightning protection systems
- Removal of hazardous trees
- Tree removal, pruning, and trimming using a tree lift
- Perform work in the canopy of the trees at various heights.
- Perform required general maintenance and daily inspection of equipment
- Manage customer service expectations, and work safely and professionally
- Abide by VS Landscape Group’s safety policies and procedures
- Responsible for supervising and assisting in the proper maintenance, preparation and operation of all tools and equipment including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
- Provide expert tree trimming services and inspections to client properties.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 5+ years experience in the tree removal industry
- 3-5+ years of tree lift experience
- 3-5+ years of climbing experience
- 3-5+ years of experience leading a crew
- 3-5+ years experience quoting tree work
- Advanced chainsaw and chipper operation
- Strong tree, knot and shrub identification skills
- Ability to understand and safely direct a team on the process of safely ascending tree canopies at all heights
- Valid provincial driver’s license. AR or equivalent license is a definite asset
- Tree lift experience is an asset
- Certified Arborist or willingness to work towards
- ISA certification or certificate of enrollment in an arboriculture program or equivalent.
- Ability to work safely as part of a team and possess the willingness to learn and progress.
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

**ADDITIONAL INFORMATION**:

- Seasonal Employment; Year-round employment available as follows:

- Tree Services: Spring, Summer, Fall
- Snow Removal Services: Winter
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- *Compensation based on qualifications and experience : $25.00 - $40.00 per hour_

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $25.00-$40.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
