Plumbing Apprentice

Reporting to the Central Maintenance Supervisorm the **Plumber **will be responsible for maintaining plant piping. Troubleshooting and completeing emergency repairs to keep the plant running as efficiently as possible.

**Location**:8301 Winston Churchill Blvd, Brampton, ON L6Y 0A2

**Shift**:Must be able to work weekends and be able to rotate schedule every 2 weeks.

Rotation 1: Tuesday - Friday - 6:00am - 4:30pm

Rotation 2: Friday - Monday - 6:00am - 4:30pm

**What you will be doing**:

- Performs skilled journeyperson level work involving preventative and corrective maintenance, inspections, modifications, installation/dismantling of systems and projects, as well as troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs.
- Reads drawings, blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
- Replaces taps, valves, strainers, steam traps, back-flow preventers, etc.
- Measures, cuts, threads, and bends pipe for replacement or new installations; and fits and caulks joints.
- Thaws out frozen pipes, unplugs clogged drainage and sanitary systems; repairs leaking water pipes, sinks, toilets, etc.
- Performs work on various pipe systems, including sewage, water, gas, and waste water.
- Stores equipment and tools properly when they are not in use and ensures that work area and machines are kept clean, organized and tidy at all times.
- Assists Maintenance in emergency repairs and other Trades as necessary.
- Provides oversight and guidance to Apprentice Plumbers. Apprentice Plumbers complete all duties of a Plumber under the guidance of a Licensed Plumber.
- Policies, Processes & Procedures: Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.

**What you will bring**:

- Must possess mechanical aptitude;
- Ability to work from schematics, drawings and prints when troubleshooting;
- Must have knowledge of gas tickets;
- Plumbing code rules;
- Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.;
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS;
- Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities;
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;
- Computer literacy (MS Office).
- Must possess a valid Plumber license (Licensed);
- Must provide proof of apprenticeship or prior experience (Apprentice).
