**Status: Full-Time, Temporary (2-year contract)**

This position is temporary, full-time for two years.

Launched in December 2005, OICR is an independent institute funded by the Government of Ontario through the Ministry of Colleges and Universities.

**Position responsibilities include**:

- Validate oncology drug discovery targets using established genetic techniques (siRNA, shRNA, CRISPR) with associated rescue experiments.
- Maintain meticulous records of experimental procedures and data.
- Liaise effectively with multi-disciplinary team members (computational chemistry, medicinal chemistry, and ADME groups) within the Drug Discovery Program, with other OICR Research Programs, and with academic and industry collaborators.
- Participate in team meetings, both internal and external.
- Assist in day-to-day lab management, such as reagent inventories, reagent ordering, instrument maintenance, and generation/updating of SOPs.
- Work effectively under pressure and tight timelines.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external collaborators.
- Adhere to all OICR safety guidelines and policies, strongly advocates safety to others.

**Qualifications**:

- PhD degree, obtained within the last four (4) years, in Biochemistry or Cell Biology with experience in drug discovery.
- Experience in the development / execution of small molecule cell based screens.
- Experience in the development of cell-based target engagement and functional assays to support medicinal chemistry efforts.
- Experience in the validation of novel anti-cancer targets using genetic techniques.
- Familiarity with the drug discovery processes and timelines in general.
- Knowledge of cancer biology and related signal transduction pathways.
- Great team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Highly motivated self-starter who enjoys an element of ambiguity and is willing to adapt to a changing environment.
