**Terms**: Term, Full-Time

**Shift**: 35 hours per week

**End Date**: March 31, 2025, possibility of extension contingent on funding

**Salary**: $53,000-$54,000, Includes benefits (medical and dental) + 3 weeks of vacation

**Reports To**: Supervisor, Youth Employment Programs

**Nature and Scope**:
The Youth Breakthrough to Employment & Training (YBEAT) program is an employment and training program designed to support youth living with mental health barriers in developing fundamental life, social and employability skills. This occurs through a multi-phased program beginning with a series of workshops and training sessions followed by practical work experience and on-going employment and mental health support.

This position has the primary responsibility for facilitating workshops, working directly with participants of the program, supporting with work placements and providing on-going follow-up support. The position will involve assisting in setting up structure and process for the delivery of the program with appropriate consideration of the varying mental health and other needs of program participants. Furthermore, this position includes community outreach in order to recruit participants; a strong understanding of mental health barriers including concurrent disorders is required in order to assess suitability for program applicants. The incumbent will work directly within a team of three staff.

**Major Responsibilities**:

- Develop and facilitate life, employability, job maintenance, social and wellness workshops
- Assist program participants in the creation of an Action Plan to map out goals for employment and/or training
- Adapt and update workshop curriculum to ensure engaging and relevant material
- Connect with participant supports (e.g. mental health support workers, case managers, clinical counsellors, etc.) to provide wrap around programming
- Effectively respond to crisis and implement behavioral management strategies
- Relationship building with multiple stakeholders including referral agencies and community organizations (in particular, those working with youth with mental illness), government agencies and businesses
- Conduct outreach in order to engage and recruit suitable participants
- Recruit potential employers for work opportunities for participants
- Help participants to develop strategies in managing their mental health barriers in the work place
- Match participants with employers that align with their goals and that will support long term attachment to the labour market
- Provide follow up support to program participants who have completed the program
- Maintain accurate case notes, reports and statistical information using Salesforce CRM
- Travel occasionally required (2-3x per year to Surrey or Vancouver for YMCA meetings)

**Qualifications**:

- Post-Secondary Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
- Experience working with youth or persons facing barriers due to mental health challenges and/or mental illness
- CDP or related certification is an asset
- Experience with developing and facilitating community-based programming and services
- Strong facilitation skills with proven experience in developing curriculum in life, employability and computer skills within an employment program setting
- Awareness of local youth resources and willingness to develop community supports
- Ability to be flexible, adaptable and multi-task in high demand environment
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Computer proficient - Microsoft Office (including Office 365, Word, and Excel)
- High degree of independence and initiative within a team environment
- Proven responsibility to coordinate tasks and work as part of a team
- Emergency First Aid/CPR-C Certificate required, can be obtained within 30 days of start date
