We currently have an opening for a fulltime **Geotechnical EIT** in our **Halifax, NS** office.

**Educational & Experience Requirements**:

- Completion of a recognized bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
- Eligible for registration with Engineers Nova Scotia (EIT).
- Understanding and demonstrated field experience in soil/bedrock classification, drilling methods, in-situ testing (settlement, compaction, packer testing, vibration monitoring, etc.), soil/rock logging, sampling protocols, monitoring well and instrument installation, considered an asset.
- Familiarity with software packages specific to geotechnical analysis (i.e., borehole logging, analytical software such as Rocscience®, GeoStudio®, etc.) would be an asset.
- Ability and interest to undertake extensive fieldwork, in a range of weather conditions.
- Ability to work in a dynamic consulting environment that requires flexibility and the willingness to work overtime, as required.
- Well-developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organizational skills

**Main Duties**:

- Provide technical support on a wide variety of geotechnical, materials and environmental projects, including the preparation and supervision of field programs, data collection, data analysis, technical report writing, and proposal preparation.
- Design and conduct field investigations, including: soils/rock drilling and logging, test pit logging, soil and bedrock characterization, monitoring well and other instrument tasks/installation, etc., as well as associated field coordination and sub-contractor coordination.
- Assisting intermediate and senior staff in performing design and analytical functions on projects involving slope/embankment stability, retaining walls, seepage, drainage, settlement analysis, shallow and deep foundations, dams, contaminated sites, and landfills.
- Construction inspection and field testing and sampling of soil, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, sediment, surface water, and groundwater.
- Measuring and recording field data using equipment, such as water quality meters, water level meters, oil/water interface probes, photoionization detectors, data loggers, GPS and survey gear, etc.
- Producing detailed documentation of field conditions, measurements and observations to aid in the preparation of client deliverables (drawings/site plans, borehole/monitoring well logs, photo logs, written reports, etc.).
- Assisting in preparation of proposals and technical deliverables (e.g., geotechnical investigations, geotechnical design and analysis, geotechnical inspections, materials testing, construction inspection, environmental site assessment and remediation reports, etc.).
- Various office and field tasks related to geotechnical engineering, materials testing/engineering and environmental engineering.

**Position**:

- Full time salaried position.
- Providing proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 may be a condition of employment. Exceptions to this requirement will be considered on a case-by-case basis in relation to local health guidelines and/or client requirements/regulations.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
