The Section Head, Land Use Planning, provides authoritative advice and leadership for land use plan development and implementation including development of legislation, regulations and policies supporting plan outcomes. Working collaboratively with First Nation partners, the Section Head position is responsible for the management, coordination and delivery of strategic land use initiatives on behalf of government. The Section Head leads diverse project teams of multidisciplinary specialists across multiple agencies. The position also develops strong working relationships with First Nations and engages with Local and senior levels of government, industry, environmental groups and the public.

Reporting to an excluded manager at the Business Leadership level, the Section Head is accountable for supervision of staff at the professional or specialist level. This position manages staff and financial resources, ensures achievement of and evaluates the outcomes of program goals and applies legislation, policies and professional standards. The Section Head leads projects and strategic initiatives to address large-scale and controversial issues within its geographic area.

**Job Requirements**:

- Degree in the natural resource field or equivalent, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Related experience must include the following:

- Experience in negotiating and mediating solutions with First Nations and stakeholders in natural resource management.
- Comprehensive experience in regulatory management in the applicable natural resource field.
- Experience managing technical and/or professional staff in resource management or land use initiatives.
- Experience supervising, leading coaching and mentoring staff.
- Experience in land use planning and related policy.
